Interesting question posed on CBR today -- which comicbook have you re-read the most number of times? Which one keeps you coming back for more?

I've hardly read any comics in years and had cut way back for years before that, but as a kid and as a young man it was DC SPECIAL#29, "The Secret Origin of the Justice Society of America."

The Carl Barks Uncle Scrooge story "The Flying Dutchman." I can't really give an issue number, since it's been reprinted so many times over the years. It originally appeared in 1959. I read it from a late 1970s Gold Key reprint. I've read it in the "Carl Barks Library" set, and I think I've got a still later reprint packed away somewhere. It's only one of many Carl Barks classics, but it's the one that sticks out most fondly in my memory.

I've got the first appearance of the Red Tornado (JLA 64/65) pretty much memorized from multiple readings. Same with the first appearance of Ra's Al Guhl in Batman #232.

It's between Fantastic Four #1 and "Joker's Five Way Revenge" for me, as far as superhero comics go. It's got to be The Many Faces of Magica De Spell, a Barks Scrooge story, overall though. I literally read it until it fell apart.

The Defenders "Scorpio" arc in which Scorpio discusses philosophy with Nick Fury LMD while the Defenders fight the rest of the Zodiac.
I also reread Dan Clowes and the Hernandez Brothers' work many, many times. And League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.
My old Godzilla comics also get reread to my four year old Noah a lot these days. This summer he demanded looking at at least one of them every night before bed.

All of the comics in the Hulk Firesides book -- which contains Hulk #3 and the original run from Tales to Astonish. Read those 'til my fingers bled.

Avengers 93. I think it's the best comic art I've ever seen. I must have copied every panel in my time.

Daredevil: Born Again.
Managed to make my softcover fall apart, now have a hardback version. I'd guess Batman: Dark Knight Returns and Year One wouldn't be far behind. For older material it'd be The Invaders issues 1 - 30 plus the What If? issue.

For stories, Watchmen and Dark Knight Returns easily take the contest.
For individual issues? I really can't say.

This is a good question. I've read the Spider-man story from Amazing Fantasy 15 a lot, but mainly because it was repeated so often. The Batman story from Detective #27 also falls into that category. I have read Daredevil #7 quite a bit on my own. Also Detective #359 with Batgirl. The Barks duck stories get repeat-read a lot as well, especially "The Golden Helmet" and "The Second-Richest Duck."
More recently, I read that Avengers 1 1/2 a lot. I want Marvel to make a lot more books like that.

I'd say Watchmen, which I re-read about every year or so, along with Kingdom Come. I re-read the Starman series every couple of years (I'm about due again), DKR, Marvels, Astro City. I usually go back through Preacher about every 3 or 4 years because it takes me so long to stop feeling so dirty afterward. I haven't dug out any of my older stuff in years, though.

The correct answer is the Dark Phoenix Saga.
