Description
Universal Music is pleased to announce the release of the definitive Fotheringay collection, Nothing More: The Collected Fotheringay. This 3CD/1DVD set is the most comprehensive compilation yet of the group’s recordings, including hitherto unseen television footage, previously unreleased live recordings from a festival in Rotterdam (both from August 1970) and, for the first time, the official release of the seven existing tracks which Fotheringay recorded in session for BBC radio. The final DVD disc is the real Holy Grail for her fans. The four songs recorded by the group for the German TV show Beat Club effectively double the existing footage of Sandy Denny in performance. Two of these, ‘Nothing More’ and ‘John the Gun’ were never even broadcast at the time. Nothing More comes in hardcover book format complete with rare and previously unseen photographs of the band plus previously unseen original sketches for the Fotheringay cover by Marion Appleton, Trevor Lucas’s sister.

If this has a significant amount of material I don't already own, I'll be buying it.

I only have one CD and some tracks from Sandy's box. Look forward to what's here.

I wonder if the DVD is that 4 song "Lost Broadcasts" that almost came out 4 years ago...

And what is the 3rd CD gonna bee? Live Rotterdam? Live Essen? Live Plumpton Festival? Or Fothergay at the BBC?

Bring it all on I say... :ohyes:

And Sandy's bio is due out in March...

Didn't they only release one album? How are they gonna stretch that to 3 CDs?

Technically yes, Jimbo. They were in the midst of recording their followup in early 1971 when Sandy left and went solo. In 2008, guitarist Jerry Donahue finally assembled the remnants and released it as "Fotheringay 2"...

The Fotheringay 2 album is quite good. I think Sandy Denny's material tailed off a bit later on, but what she recorded with Fotheringay is very much on par with her Fairport work, imo.

I agree on all counts
I know there are some demos and alternate takes floating around that Donahue didn't use on 2, so I imagine they will help flesh out the 3 cd's.
As for the DVD, I know nothing around save for the "Lost Broadcasts" that RR of L mentioned.
We shall see.

Kid Bailey brought us the description and tracklist, and I've moved those up into the first post as well.

For the record, it looks like:
--the 6 bonus cuts on CD 1 were all on the Sandy Big Box, 4 were on the Notes & Words small box
--5 of the 6 bonus cuts on CD 2 were on the Big Box, none on the small box
--6 of the 9 Rotterdam cuts were on the Big Box, none on the small box, 4 were on a reissue of the 1st album
--all 7 BBC cuts are new
--the DVD is new, but some of the 4 are up on YouTube

So it looks like I need 23 of these cuts = I'm in !!

As time rolls on, more and more of the Big Box rare cuts keep dribbling out, I'll have a very high % of them after I get this.
And stuff not on the Big Box is still coming out.

Life is good...

And in related news, originals Jerry Donahue, Pat Donaldson, and Gerry Conway are taking Fotheringay on a UK tour, June and December dates announced so far. With a Trevor replacement = PJ Wright, and 2 chicks replacing Sandy = Kathryn Roberts and Sally Barker. Sure would love to see this...

From Jerry D on FB:

"Hello fellow Family and Friends of Sandy: It's been wonderful to read all the support and enthusiasm here, over upcoming activity surrounding Sandy: Mick Houghton's wonderful biography, the 4-disc box set being released by Universal, next month, etc. And, as Universal have been encouraging Pat, Gerry and me to put a sort of 'Fotheringay revisited' unit together as an aid in promoting all of this, we've done just that, and have some wonderful guests with us in Kathryn Roberts (of Equation, KR and Sean Lakeman), Sally Barker (The Poozies and The Voice), and PJ Wright (The Dylan Project, The Steve Gibbons Band, PJW and Dave Pegg). This is most exciting to all of us involved in the three projects and we now have the following confirmed dates on our calendars.

June 2015

Wednesday 17th: The Bridgewater Halls, Manchester
Thursday 18th: The Brewery Arts Centre, Kendal
Friday 19th: Under the Bridge, London
Saturday 20th: Lowdam Festival, Notts
Sunday 21st ?
Monday 22nd: The Philharmonic Hall, Liverpool
Tuesday 23rd: The Carneigie Hall Dunfermline

These have been arranged in the only 8 day period that was free to all six of us, since we do have quite different agendas and schedules from one another. But we're treating this very seriously and it gives us an exciting opportunity to relive this wonderful side of Sandy's music that, I believe, no one else has covered in all these years. I hope we get close enough to you and you'll be able to join us in a wonderful evening of Sandy's unique and beautiful songs. Besides the two Fotheringay albums, we will also be doing a few selections from Sandy's solo works and, of course Trevor's selections sung by PJ. Cheers! Jerry Donahue"

I have more interest in the box than in a concert tribute with vocalists I am unfamiliar with.

If Linda Thompson & Annie Haslam were involved, I might feel differently.

Sandy is one of many on the cover of the latest "Shindig-now-renamed-Kaleidoscope" magazine for a story on "Fotheringay – inside the folk-rock supergroup," issue # 47, out it the UK on April 16. Operators are standing by:

I didn't know Shindig changed their name? :-o Thanks for the heads up Rokin Robin of Locksley.

My Fotheringay box set arrived from Germany yesterday. Practically stole it due to the Euro plunge. :ohyes:

Being a big Sandy Denny fan I am looking forward to this.

Newsflash !! : The publisher of Shindig, Volcano Publishing, has apparently been at war with the writers/editors of Shindig, which has just now culminated in a hostile takeover and rebranding (within the past week?). Volcano has seized the Shindig website, hid the email and subscriber list, and says that Shindig has been incorporated into Kaleidoscope, which supposedly has been a dormant mag for quite awhile. Volcano also changed the proposed Shindig cover from a full Sandy shot to a multi-artist kaleidoscope shot, and doctored some of the contents, according to the Shindig peeps. I no longer subscribe, but do buy specific issues on an as needed basis (ain't got enough time to read it all).

The Shindig peeps are in revolt, seeking to retain their mag and I guess now trying to find another publisher, with the backing of thousands of subscribers as the word gets out. Some of the feud info is here (link below), which also refers to other sources and websites. The Shindig peeps still have their Shindig facebook site, and some info is there as well. Most interesting.

WOW, what a shame. I really like Shindig. Like Rokin Robin I do not subscribe but I pick up issues at B&N when contents interest me.
