From classicrockmagazine.com:

King's X are calling on fans to help gather material for a series of upcoming reissues.

The veteran rockers plan CD and vinyl reissues of their classic early albums Faith Hope Love, Gretchen Goes To Nebraska, Out Of The Silent Planet, King's X, Ear Candy and Dogman.

And to help with the packaging and layout of the new versions, the band are asking fans to get in touch if they have any photos, flyers, gig tickets or other merchandise from the 1988 to 1996 era of the group.

The band say: "King's X will be releasing a series of reissues in 2015 on CD and on vinyl. The band and Metal Blade Records are putting together packaging and track listings at this very moment, and the band would like to ask fans for a favour.

"King's X are looking for photos, show flyers, ticket stubs, etc. from the 1988-1996 era of the band. If you were there and have any photos from that time, they have a chance to be featured in the layout for one of the upcoming reissues."

Fans who think they have any relevant material are asked to get in touch with the band via e-mail address kingsxphotos@gmail.com in the first instance.

King's X were forced to cancel a number of shows last year after drummer Jerry Gaskill underwent heart surgery. He suffered a heart attack in September – two years after a similar incident in 2012.

I'll be interested in these when they are reissued. Underrated band in my book.

All these albums are good (some of them great) and well worth having in the collection. I don't think I'd be interested in remasters as the original CDs sound good to me, but I'll buy all of them if they have a good selection of bonus material included.

I'm in on these... all of them. I own every disc they put out. Rock Candy did a good job with Out Of The Silent Planet.

I have no Kings X. What are 3 of their must have albums?

Probably the first three - Out of the Silent Planet, Gretchen Goes to Nebraska, and Faith, Hope, Love.

I'd go with Gretchen, FHL and skip to Dogman.

We gotta do that album guide, Ted!

True. Forgot during the holidays!

Are we doing any side projects or solo stuff?

Ty Tabor's solo stuff deserves its own thread. I'm not enough of an expert to start my own but would enjoy following along if someone does it.

Amazon offers a 5 CD box set which includes the first 5 albums so I'll give that a try.

You will not be disappointed with that purchase, John, but it likely will open up a can of worms as you'll want to hear their subsequent albums. Also, Ty Tabor's solo stuff is fantastic, playing up the more melodic side of King's X. Kinda like Adrian Belew's solo albums vs. his work with King Crimson. Both great but distinctly different.

Dogman rates up there with the first three (for me at least). Ear Candy isn't far behind. The self-titled never did a thing for me. Their worst disc was Please Come Home... Mr. Bulbous.

Also think the S/T is weak likely due to producer heavyhandedness.

That was right about the time the relationship with Sam Taylor disintegrated, so I think the cracks showed on KX4 (the self titled record). Still some great songs on that one though.

Dogman was a big change in sound, which is why I left it off the initial recommendation. The first three are much more cohesive.

The first three, along with Ear Candy are essential for me. I hope these come with amazing extras. I'd love an excuse to buy them again. I enjoyed XV quite a bit, too.

If any of you are interested, Wally Farkas (Galactic Cowboys fame) has his own music distribution site. Molken Music. They have 2 or 3 live King's X CD's and a bunch of stuff from Ty Tabor. I bought King's X - Live & Live Some More: Dallas '94 (Dogman Tour) a couple years ago. It was originally broadcast by Z Rock (remember them?). The sound quality is pretty damn good, though not stellar. It's worth the money. The best part of that disc for me was.... I was in attendance. :yay: It's the only live disc that I own that I was actually part of.

Molken has another King's X disc from the '92 tour.

The list of CD's.....

That's something Wally started up with the guys when he was living with Ty after the Cowboys broke up and his side business as a promoter in Houston fell apart.

They've managed to put out a few good things, but the holy Grail was always the DVDs from classic tours he claimed they were going to release. The London show from the Gretchen tour was a good start, but everything else seems to have fallen through.

I'm annoyed that Live and Live Some More is one of the only albums not on Spotify.

ok... i'm a little freaked-out at the moment.
i just looked to double-check which titles i own, and there should have been 2 - filed right after Kings Of Convenience.
right?
they're not there, damnit!
looks like i'm looking forward to these remasters more that i thought.
