Paul McCartney's theme tune for computer game 'Destiny' appears online
Paul McCartney has shared his theme tune for the computer game 'Destiny'.
The former Beatle worked on the score for the game and you can now listen to 'Hope For The Future' by clicking above. The first-person shooter is available for Playstation and Xbox now and saw McCartney working with a 120 piece orchestra at London's Abbey Road Studios on the theme, which is set to be released as a single. The orchestra was conducted by Beatles producer George Martin's son Giles and produced by Mark 'Spike' Stent.
The score has come together over the past four years, with McCartney joining forces with the games company Bungie's in-house composer Marty O'Donnell and Mike Salvatori.

Paul McCartney announces new single 'Hope For The Future' from 'Destiny' video game soundtrack
Paul McCartney has announced details of a new single, 'Hope For The Future' – his first song to be specifically written for a video game.
The track, due to be released with a variety of different mixes on December 8, was recorded for the soundtrack of the hit video game Destiny.
Speaking in this week's NME, available digitally and at newsstands now, McCartney discusses what drew him to the project.
"I was intrigued by the intricacy of the music because in a game if you go one route a certain piece of the music plays," he said. "I know from my kids and my grandkids, they just bury themselves in a game and I don't think they've got time to listen to my music. Their agenda is pretty full with all the other stuff, you know, so I like the idea of infiltrating into their agenda."
Asked whether or not he's played Destiny, McCartney responded: "I'm not very good at games. I've got so much else to be getting on with; I can't have my face in a screen, you know, bopping along in a game. I had a go and it was great, but I got mashed almost instantly. The aliens mashed me."
'Hope For The Future' is released on December 8 in a digital bundle that includes four exclusive remixes, including a "thrash" mix.
'Destiny' was released last week and has so far grossed over £200 million worldwide ($325 million). It's tipped to become one of the highest selling video game franchises of all time.

Perhaps the digital package will turn up at iTunes, but there's nothing listed at Amazon MP3 yet. There is a pre-order for a vinyl 12" single listed for January (now linked in the first post). I have some hope that the full Destiny game soundtrack will get a CD release sooner or later, including the McCartney track.

Paul McCartney Announces 'Hope for the Future' Vinyl Release With 'Thrash' Remix
In a collaboration this past year that was even more unlikely than working with Kanye West, Paul McCartney wrote and recorded a song called "Hope for the Future" for the popular video game Destiny. On January 13th, McCartney will releasing the track as a 12" vinyl single. The 180-gram record will feature McCartney's original version alongside four remixes, including a thrash reworking and a mix by Madonna producer Mirwais. A download card will also accompany the 12".
"When you're writing something like 'Hope for the Future,' which is custom made, it is like doing a portrait for someone," McCartney said in a statement. "You have to use your imagination and work out what they need, what they're going to want and then what you want to give them. Then you've got to combine those three things into something that you still think maintains integrity.
"So in the game you're basically trying to save Earth from the invaders, the aliens, so that suggested to me the 'hope for the future' idea and I went from there," McCartney added. "Then I thought it is not just a game song, this will get played outside the game so it has got to be stand-alone too, you can’t have references to aliens or people will think, 'What's he talking about?' So it had to have its own stand-alone meaning and integrity."
"Hope for the Future" 12" 1. "Hope for the Future (Main)" 2. "Hope for the Future (Thrash)" 3. "Hope for the Future (Mirwais Mix)" 4. "Hope for the Future (Beatsession Mix)" 5. "Hope for the Future (Jaded Mix)"
