Rock Goes To College was a BBC series that first ran between 1978 and 1981 on British television. Upcoming rock bands were showcased, and it was broadcast ‘live’ from small venues at University, Polytechnic and College halls, where tickets were often given free to students, ensuring a full capacity attendance and lively atmosphere.

Each performance would be a 40-50 minute set, and the original ‘Sight & Sound’ broadcasts were transmitted simultaneously on BBC TV and in Stereo on BBC Radio One.

Ex-Procol Harum guitarist Robin Trower was already well established as a solo artist by 1980, with 7 albums already out and one currently in active promotion. He was also a regular act on the UK college circuit throughout the 1970s.

The London University gig captures the extraordinary skills of this now revered guitar legend at his peak.

The authoritative liner notes by Blues Matters magazine editor Alan Pearce includes a new interview with Robin Trower.

I would prefer cd only at a lower price. I have well over 500 music video dvd's that I'venever watched & likely in many cases never will (there's not enough TIME for music, movies, music vid & life!)

Agree Geff, I don't often watch the concert DVDs either, I prefer music doco's these days. However vintage Trower is too good to pass on

This is part of a series from the Repertoire label, so there won't be a domestic release. The DVDs in this series are NTSC/Region 0, however.

Repertoire tends to be pricy until/unless they get to the cutout stage.

Got this in mail today. Very well done. The video is not bad for SD and the Dolby Digital leaves a bit to be desired. It does give you a 5.1DD or Stereo DD option. The liner notes are excellent and the CD sounds better than the DVD audio wise. If you are a Dewer era Trower fan, this is must have. I only got to see RT with Dewer once back when I was in HS so this brings back some memories.
