I haven't kept up with the comics industry like I used to but perusing the latest ICV2 top 300 comics I noticed that there are a few comics doing surprisingly well with women leads, a rarity throughout the history.
I haven't read any of these so what's the scoop? Are they really good? Is it due to more women reading and buying comics now? What do you think the reasons for this welcome change are?

This article appeared a couple of days ago in the Wall Street Journal about the growing market for females. But it delved into areas that most of us wouldn't consider comic books, like that original graphic novel "Smile."
Interesting. I wonder if the graphic novels have brought more women into stores buying the monthlies. And it seems like digital is the new newstand too though you still have to be guided to getting the digital app and the books, unlike newstands back in the day where they were just there in front of you. I think The Big Bang Theory and the Marvel films have to be credited with the interest to seeking these things out. Not sure what else would encourage a new reader to either buy a GN or go to the app store and download the Comixology app and start buying books. Thoughts?
