I just received the box set of this today. Universal Music Japan released these in 2013 and I just discovered them last Saturday night. The box has his 4 Geffen years discs in them, including HSAS, making it a 5 disc set.

I recently bought the Van Hagar years discs done in (I think) 2005 or 6. The only one I didn't get was Balance because that cd disgusted me. But those other Van Halen discs sound sweet. I read arguments over at Hoffman saying that they aren't remastered. Could've fooled me.

Will be checking out the Sammy discs in the coming days.

No, you are right Mark. The Japanese Van-Hagar WAS re-mastered. I had it in my hands at my indie back upon it's release and I am STILL kick'in myself for not getting it. Extremely hard to get, especially at the price I could have bought it.

Anyway, 5150 never sounded better to me. It amazes me that the Hagar era never got the same treatment in the USA.
