I wonder if it's going to hurt the movie not having Gustin in it. Here they have a hit show, everyone loves Gustin and then the fans are going to get to the movie and the Flash just won't be 'right', not 'their Flash'.

I think it will depend on what the other actor has to offer for the part. The "Other Guy" ( :D ) might bring enough to the table that the audience will be willing to go with him.

My interest in the movie is lessened because I like Gustin so much, and I have no idea who this Other Guy is, and him being really cute doesn't even help. I suppose they're go ing to re-tell his origin?

I suspect that movie Flash will be Wally West. I read that one of the marketing problems with Green Lantern was that people knew him as John Stewart and not Hal Jordan because of the cartoon. Maybe they are afraid of making the same mistake with Flash.

Ezra Miller was shock casting for me. He is not leading man material and I can't see him as a superhero of any kind, but he is quirky and seems more like TV Justice League Wally than Barry Allen.

The CW Flash audience is a drop in the bucket compared to the size of a major summer release audience.

With all due respect to the advertising geniuses at Warner Bros, the marketing of the film was not the problem.

But I'm sure Warner will find a way to make the latter move closer to the former.

It had to be part of the problem -- the movie opened low and stayed there. If the marketing was good, it would have opened high and then dropped quickly from poor word-of-mouth.

It is, but I would think that this is a way for them to boost the numbers for both. It takes away the viability of a Flash film series, but they could have Flash and Arrow as TV properties interacting with movie properties like Superman and Batman.

I think that the Flash is so well received, it'd be a mistake to a) confuse the brand with a separate film series and b) not tie the movies in with something that already has some measure of success and is critically acclaimed.

I'm sure that Ant-Man will do fine in spite of the main character NOT being Henry Pym. The John Stewart cartoon generation is just one out of many. More kids watched the SuperFriends Hal Jordan Green Lantern in the 80's than those that watched John Stewart on Cartoon Network.

I don't know it mattered who Green Lantern's secret identity was -- my point was that the movie clearly didn't seem appealing to enough people based on the marketing.

At this point, I'll bet that most male moviegoers know superheroes from video games instead of cartoons.

I think that they're used to seeing them from different venues and in differing forms. If it looks appealing and (as Hanzo said) if its marketed well enough then people will watch. I'm happy that gamers are obsessed with the minutia of the different versions of Batman or know who Killer Croc is, even though they haven't read many comics. Whatever it takes to build the superhero audience.

Why does Robert want this movie to do well, so much?

Right. Remember, people probably never even heard of Guardians of the Galaxy, Iron Man, Thor (as a superhero), etc.

With the casting of the Flash and no director or writer attached, the Flash movie is at the bottom of my expectations list. Even with Gustin (who I love on that show) I wouldn't be that excited because... I already see him every week as the TV Flash.

I like that the CW superhero universe is slowly building around Green Arrow and the Flash. I wouldn't like if they were dragged into the movie-verse, and suddenly they're mid to lower level superheroes compared to Batman and Superman. I think that they should remain as the big fish in their small pond. Let the movies build a bigger pond, and stock it with the other superheroes.

If the CW added another DC hero, who would you like them to add?
