Gail Simone higher than Carl Barks. Joe Kubert under Todd McFarlane. Good lord, that list is garbage. I'm sure Jim Lee will top it. Stan might still top the writers list, if he were actually a writer.

I think the fact that I voted this time may be help explain why Barks and Toth even made the list.

Jack Kirby will top the artists, with Quitely at #2. Stan will be #4 at most, after Moore (who will undoubtedly be #1), Morrison and Gaiman.

It's Comics Should be Good. They are my kin -- I know how they think.

It will be exactly what you say, except I think Gaiman will be ahead of Morrison.

Those two are #2 and #3, though in what order, I don't know. It could go either way.

It's just recency bias. Heck, most voters probably have never read a Carl Barks story (I haven't).

I have, but if I'm honest, when I think "Comic Book Greatest Writers" I default to "Superhero Greatest Writers"

Which is why, I assume, Stan Lee is not on your list.

I do too, and artists as well. Once I'm reminded, I'll throw Barks right there into the mix as one of the greatest of all time, but I always start from "superhero artist/writer". It's ingrained. That's with owning all the Fantagraphics Barks collections and having read a lot of his stuff.

He tops my Greatest Comic Book Typists, though.

That's a pretty paltry number of votes in the whole poll.
