I'd be shocked if there wasn't a crossover with GOTG. Besides, I would love to see Peter "Starlord" Quill return to Earth to save it, even if he goes back home to the other end of the galaxy at the end of these films.
Russo Brothers Rumored To Direct Avengers: Infinity War
Rumors are mounting that The Russo Brothers will take over the Avengers franchise in a big way after 2016's Captain America: Civil War.
Like, Thanos big. The directing duo are reportedly wowing Marvel so much lately, that the studio wants to give them the keys to Avengers: Infinity War Pts. 1 & 2, Deadline reports. This quickly follows the news that Captain America: Civil War will mark Black Panther’s debut in the Marvel Cinematic universe, feature Daniel Bruhl as a villain, and see the Winter Soldier’s return.
This isn’t the first time that the Russo Brothers have been rumored to direct the ultimate Avengers film. After delivering with Captain America: Winter Soldier this year, The Russo’s have reportedly earned Marvel’s complete trust. Their second Marvel outing, Civil War, is a mini-Avengers film in and of itself, showing that Marvel is comfortable giving them a high stakes film. Infinity War would be the next logical step. Joss Whedon, who directed The Avengers and next year's Avengers: Age of Ultron, is not expected to return for another installment. Once his departure is confirmed by Marvel, it’s likely that all eyes will turn to the Brothers.
Avengers: Infinity War Pt. 1 hits theaters May 4th, 2018 and Captain America:Civil War opens on May 6, 2016.
