Universal Music will reissue 40th anniversary editions of Supertramp‘s 1974 album Crime of the Century in December, including a 3LP vinyl box set. The original album is remastered across all formats and the two-CD deluxe edition and 3LP vinyl box adds a previously unreleased concert from London’s Hammersmith Odeon in March 1975. During this gig the band play Crime of the Century in its entirety as well as new tracks from what was their forthcoming album, Crisis . . . What Crisis? This concert has been mixed from the original tapes by Crime’s original producer Ken Scott. The limited edition vinyl box comes with two 10 x 8 images and an eight page booklet featuring a 7,500 word essay by Phil Alexander of Mojo Magazine, featuring new interviews with many of the key players. The albums are pressed on 180gm vinyl and the box comes with a download card. One of the best "sounding" albums ever. I'm lucky to have a copy of the never released remaster of this album on a CD that was poo-pooed by the band for a more "modern" sounding disc.
Wonder which mix this will be?
Anyway the 2CD version is a must buy.

As great as this sounds the rumor was that we were getting a 5.1 mix. Therefore slightly disappointed that this is not to be but I'll sure be getting this reissue.
One of my best concert memories ever was seeing Supertramp playing "Crime of the Century" in it's entirely at the Beacon Theatre, New York on April 11, 1975.
Wow, damm near forty years ago. Chris De Burgh opened up if I remember correctly.
Won tickets from WNEW-FM and my best buddy and I became "Tramp" fans forever.

Has Even In The Quietest Moments ever got the deluxe treatment? I thought it had but didn't see anything on Amazon so guess I just dreamed it? Wouldn't be the first time.

Anyway the 2CD version is a must buy. This is a new remaster. I believe this is from the original master tapes and not some alternate mix. A great, great album.

Supertramp will reissue their Crime Of The Century album later this year.
Their third record was originally released in 1974 and this remastered version will mark its 40th anniversary. It launches on December 8.
The package features the original album, which has been remastered by Ray Staff, along with a live recording from the band’s appearance at London’s Hammersmith Odeon in March 1975. This disc has been mixed from the master tapes by original on-the-night engineer Ken Scott.
The album will be available on CD, 2CD, 180g vinyl, Blu-ray, digital formats and as a vinyl box set. The double CD package comes with a 24-page booklet featuring photos and interviews, while the vinyl box set includes an eight-page album-sized booklet, download code and two 10 x 8 prints.
Earlier this year, Supertramp guitarist Carl Verheyen released solo album Mustang Run. It features guest contributions from Simon Philips, Chad Wackerman, Jerry Goodman, Bill Evans, Jimmy Johnson, Stuart Hamm and Gregg Bissonette.

I got mine last week. I have only had time to give it one listen and a quick comparison to the last remaster from Greg Calbi back in 2002, but it sounds like a new mix with a wider soundstage. Not radical. It sounds very nice.
