I know this has been in the works for a while now, but is this more Marvel downplaying
of properties that it doesn't control in the movies?

He's not quite gone. Marvel is immediately milking his death with a new title called The Wolverines (horrible title).

They still sell his books, but can't hide sad looks
for their checks from the flicks are sub-par.

Then Disney came up with a plan,
based on a mutant not being a man.
It isn't that mean to kill Wolverine,
if he wasn't created by Stan.

When his wounds up in heaven get healed,
and he rises alive from the field,
he won't be the same, he'll get a new name,
James Howlett, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.
