‘Dredd’ Producer to Release Dark Judges Miniseries Online

Despite the best efforts of die-hard fans, a sequel to 2012′s Dredd is unlikely to materialize in the near future. Luckily, however, Executive Producer Adi Shankar isn’t content to just sit around, waiting for a studio green light.

TheWrap reports that Shankar, who was behind the well-received Punisher and Venom fan films “Dirty Laundry” and “Truth in Journalism,” has stealthily produced an unofficial Dredd miniseries centering on the villainous Dark Judges. The thank you to loyal fans will be available for free online later this month in seven episodes.

Created by John Wagner, Alan Grant and Brian Bolland, the Dark Judges are a sinister group of undead law enforcers from an alternate dimension: Judge Death, Judge Fear, Judge Fire and Judge Mortis.

It’s unknown whether Dredd stars Karl Urban and Olivia Thirlby will reprise their roles in the miniseries. It’s certainly not outside the realm of possibility, as Shankar was able to enlist Thomas Jane for “Dirty Laundry” and True Blood star Ryan Kwanten for “Truth in Journalism.”
