It doesn't matter. This whole thing is a joke. Since Lou Reed died last year, you knew that he was going to get in. It'll be the same when all of the Moodies, Yes and Chicago are gone. They were kinder to Linda Ronstadt and just waited until she was so ill that she couldn't travel and couldn't sing.

Laughable list.

Lou Reed should get in whether he died or not.

I'm fine with Joan Jett, War, The Spinners, The Marvelettes, and Bill Withers as well, since soul/R&B acts are allowed in.

Couldn't agree more. As far as I know, those artists have never even been NOMINATED, yet there are plenty of questionable artists who were inducted in their first year of eligibility. For some reason they continue to overlook prog & metal artists like King Crimson, Jethro Tull, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Deep Purple, etc. Not sure why I care at all but every year the nominees list comes out & I can't help but shake my head. I own plenty of music from 11 of this year's nominees, but only a few of them deserve the recognition before any of the artists Renny, Charles or I already mentioned...and I'm sure we've left out plenty of others.

Whether Lou Reed should get in isn't a question in my mind (and I'm not really a Lou Reed fan) - the question is why isn't he already in (along with some of the other acts named)? For that matter, why isn't SRV already in? He almost single-handedly revived interest in blues guitar in the 80s, at least in the mainstream.

I've got no problem with Joan Jett getting in - but & The Blackhearts? That seems to be a bit of a stretch.

Can't really knock any of the groups. Wish we would see a Deep Purple or a Moody Blues but all are worthy. Nice to see The Smiths in there! Would they reunite for the honor?

Kraftwerk should've been inducted years ago.

I wonder if they'd send their robot doppelgangers to the ceremony.

The Jam aren't already in? I hate the HoF, but the list itself isn't a bad list, other than missing some deserving names.

We'll get a blog post from Morrissey on True-To-You bashing the HoF, but probably an appearance by Johnny Marr.

Well, Chic did have a good run for two years in the disco era and two hits. So I can't argue with that.

No Tull?

The Hall seems to hate Prog rock. No Yes either, and Rush had to wait a LONG time. I'm not a fan of Prog rock either, but you have to recognize these influential and highly successful bands, for god's sake. Influence and success should be the big barometers for entry, right?

Prog and metal. I'm a huge prog fan and there's no reasonable explanation for Yes, Jethro Tull and King Crimson never even getting nominated. Same goes for metal bands like Judas Priest and Iron Maiden. When an artist has great songs, great musicianship, a huge fan base and a career that spans decades, what element(s) are they missing in the eyes of the nominating committee? There are plenty of artists I don't personally care for that I would nominate & induct solely based on objectivity, but Wenner & his cronies clearly can't (or won't) do that.

I used different genres and artists who have successful, influential careers whether that was here or abroad.

Also, looking at some who are in already, there should be no omissions from this list.
