Trimpe is like Frank Robbins in that at first I didn't appreciate his style.
Now?
Love it.

I liked him until his dramatic shift to a Liefeld style in the 90s (in order to get work).

He's a legend...I still hate his version of The Wendigo but, apart from that, I think he's great.

I didn't like him much as a kid but now I do.
I pronounce his name as rhyming with "shrimpy." Right?

This is one of those 'mysteries of the ages' type of things....I pronounce it as "shrimp" with the "e" at the end being silent. But this may be an Australianism.

I pronounced it incorrectly as Trimp (like shrimp) until I heard it spoken aloud by one of his colleagues in a YouTube video. I still pronounce Len Wein's name as "wine" in my head, despite having heard it aloud correctly. Ween.

I think one of Stan Lee's "middle name monikers" made it clear when I was young. And I've seen him live on a convention panel, and I think they said shrimpy.

It's not an Australianism because to my eye when I was young, I rhymed it with "shrimp." I had to retrain my brain.

Yep, there definitely was a credit line in one issue that said "Happy Herbie Trimpe (rhymes with 'Shrimpy')." I remember that vividly, though I don't recall where I saw it.

Come on, now - even I knew it was Ween and not Wine.

I knew Buscema years ago, and Moench and many more...but Ween?? And Trimpy is just preposterous. What is he, Welsh?
