You can't possibly do a proper comp of all these artists in one setting.
And they didn't.
Yep. And they didn't even include anything from Anthony Phillips or Ray Wilson. As you pointed out on Facebook, Pete, perhaps they should have just included a Wilson Phillips song instead.

I'm a huge Genesis fan and this is nothing but a cash grab. Real fans own everything anyway. Casual fans won't buy this because there's too many unknown tunes.
Seriously, Genesis really needs to dig into its live archive and start putting out that stuff. Rumor is that there's tons of stuff.

For whatever reason, when I first saw the title "R-Kive" the first thing that popped into my mind was "K-Tel." An immediate turnoff.
The comp probably works better if they would have limited the non-Genesis tracks to one title per artist, and then include "Easy Lover" as the song that many Genesis fans may not currently have in their collection. This is a Genesis comp, and there is too much solo material on here which really waters it down.
I came up with the following...went safe (mostly made the obvious choices) with the track selection and it is certainly not perfect but I think it would work pretty well for a commercially-released compilation.
Disc One (Time = 78:36) 1. The Knife 2. The Musical Box 3. The Return of the Giant Hogweed 4. Watcher of the Skies 5. Supper's Ready 6. The Cinema Show 7. Firth of Fifth
Disc Two (Time = 76:30) 1. In the Cage 2. The Carpet Crawlers 3. Dance on a Volcano 4. Squonk 5. Eleventh Earl of Mar 6. Afterglow 7. Solsbury Hill (Gabriel) 8. Follow You Follow Me 9. Every Day (Hackett) 10. Turn it on Again 11. Misunderstanding 12. In the Air Tonight (Collins) 13. No Reply at All 14. Abacab
Disc Three (Time = 72:26) 1. Mama 2. That's All 3. Easy Lover (Bailey/Collins) 4. Invisible Touch 5. Land of Confusion 6. Tonight. Tonight, Tonight 7. The Living Years (Mike + the Mechanics) 8. No Son of Mine 9. I Can't Dance 10. An Island in the Darkness (Banks) 11. Calling All Stations

I would rather buy yours JosephC instead of what is being planned.

a friend of mine worked for showco in dallas and he did sound for several genesis tours up to and including the lamb. when gabriel left genesis he went with him. i've heard soundboard cassettes from toronto shows and others that are incredibly good.

The only cool thing for me is it has "Ace Of Wands", "Every Day" from Steve and "For Awhile" from Tony. Love those songs but I wouldn't put on a Genesis collection to hear them.

Who on earth did they get to come up with this concept, track listing and cover - a chimpanzee? My cat could do better than that.
I agree that live archive material would be infinitely better. I remember years ago seeing a website where they said Genesis were going through their live archives to organize and catalog everything, and I remember seeing pictures of all the organized tapes in these big cabinets. I swear I did!
So why bother going to all that trouble if they weren't planning on releasing it?

Brooklyn OWNS this charmer!
I thought this was a joke when I saw the artwork. Then I saw the track listing, and I was POSITIVE it was a joke.
