I'd prefer to see some music that is unreleased rather than constant re-issues. Yeah it is the first time Rainbow Bridge has been issued on CD. But all these tracks are on many other compilations.

Interesting. I know that there were complaints (perhaps justified) about the "Hendrix In The West" reissue a few years back, but as a listening experience, I enjoyed it lot more than the more recent "Valleys Of Neptune" and "People, Hell And Angels".

We, as consumers, should be embarrassed at the idea that marketing executives think that they can so easily dupe us into spending money. There is nothing on either of these two albums that has not already been recently digitally remastered. Every song is readily available on other Hendrix compilations that are still in print. Boy, oh, boy. Jimi would not like this.

This goes again to what we were talking about when the Doors released "Weird Scenes Inside the Gold Mine".
We all have the tracks but the years of hearing these songs in sequence for some us rekindles cool memories as well simply that the sequence maybe preferable.
These Hendrix titles are the same for me. I had these original lps and come to like how the songs were sequenced.
Would I rush out to get these? No, would I get these "on the cheap". Yes.

That's the thing--I doubt I've paid more than ten bucks for a new, sealed Hendrix CD within the past five years (with the exception of the "West Coast Seattle Boy" box, which I snagged for 50% off at a Borders liquidation.

Maybe they'll even reissue 'Starportrait', a German 2-LP box on Polydor that made its way to the US as an import in the early 70's. 23 tracks from the first 3 LP's; at about 76 minutes, it'd fit nicely on one CD.
This was a standard (read: amazing) Polydor German product: sturdy glossy box, elaborate colorful booklet, and two sonically immaculate LP pressings.
I actually liked War Heroes (at the time it was the only place to get a number of good songs) & the 90 second rhythm guitar track of Ladyland on Loose Ends is to die for (or was that on War Heroes also). .
I agree that the other 3 were largely a waste of good vinyl.

I can't believe how much the Hendrix estate believes in fucking their targeted audience over. Continuing to reissue material that is available already in multiple forms. I still own the CD's Cry of Love (on Reprise) and Rainbow Bridge (as Japanese import). Pushing those CD's as "oh my gawd, look what we're releasing" is a joke and a money grab. Like most Hendrix fanatics, I have tons of boots with amazing sounding unreleased studio material and great live recordings (and some not so great). I would be more than willing to fork over my hard earned cash for legit copies as opposed to buying warmed over reissues. Adding an alt mix of Angel, Foxy Lady or Stone Free really does not appeal to me.

Yes, that bit was on Loose Ends. I, too, liked War Heroes OK, and I kind of dug the casual looseness of Loose Ends. But those other three, yeah, I'm not even sure they should count as part of the discography.

I have all those on original CD including Loose Ends and Crash Landing but I have never seen a version of Rainbow Bridge on CD. The old Japanese version is legitimate ? I do have a fan made vinyl rip Rainbow Bridge CD that includes artwork. The sound on that is great.
I did consider ordering the Rainbow Bridge album to complete my collection but have decided to pass as I am focussing on stuff that I don't have these days.
I can understand peoples frustration, i'm not surprised with these re-issues. Whats next? The Soundtrack to The Movie 'Jimi Hendrix' ? That was never issued on CD.
Afterthought: it would not surprise me if Crash Landing & Midnight Lightning end up being issued again one day.

One thing I'm happy to see, however, is that Jimi can still generate enough emotion to create some of the longest threads on this forum. Not bad, especially in light of his being out of this world for almost 44 years now. He left a superhuman legacy. No wonder I liked him so much when I was kid. There was something about that guy.

Rainbow Bridge was a cut-out LP favorite with my high school posse. I have a grey area CD pressing (French, maybe?) but I'll be in for a legit reissue.

I largely like Rainbow Bridge a lot. The only 2 exceptions: Here My Train while a great version is completely out of place here, & Star Spangled Banner is just silly. As a teen, I loved the politics behind it, now I'm just not into what he did with that recording musically, it was likely a drug inspired joke that he threw together in a couple hours.
My favorite JH album is my home made 80 minute comp of RB coupled with parts of Cry & War Heroes. I got 1 awesome cd out of the 3 albums.
