This is a reissue of the 2003 box set with an identical tracklist. The CD box set went out of print, but anyone interested in the MP3 version can purchase it immediately.

I have a different version of this box. RykoDisc came out in a hard plastic case. It was a 3 CD set with a bonus CD-V disc that never played the video. And a booklet the size of a CD. I bet it's worth a bit now days.

I'm very glad there isn't a 3rd different edition. I owned the first 2, & was finally able to sell #1 when the 3 Boston 1973 tracks (which were exclusive at the time to box #1) came out on one of the EMI deluxe editions (it was either Alladinasane or Ziggy 2 disc; don't remember which).

If you had a laserdisc player, you could watch the CD-V.

I was never able to play the Ashes To Ashes video, but it was back in the days of Win 9.x. I was able to play "Enhanced CD's" (aka mpeg 1 &/or quicktime) in those days, though

It never worked when I tried it on my computer
I don't have the set, but have you tried to play it with the free VLC program? That seems to play everything audio and video I've ever had trouble with.

This was always a lousy box set to begin with.
I strongly disagree. At the time, there were numerous exclusive tracks (b-sides that have SINCE been released elsewhere), & Box #1 had 3 1973 live tracks that were exclusive at the time, & disc #3 was a great Eno period best of.

Meh.
It had a few rare tracks nut this was when box sets were new and I always found it an odd mish-mash of album tracks and some rare tunes and loads of missing songs.
The reissue loaded up on too many tracks from inferior projects like Tin Machine because they didn't have rights to the Virgin material.
Just my opinion, but I never thought it was well put together. Very haphazard.

I also disagree with you on Tin Machine. IMO, that was DB's best work since Scary Monsters, & remains so to this day.

Anyone re-buying this one? I bought the original way back when and it was stunning in its day. No need for this version.
Not here; I have version #2; since there's no new b-sides/rarities I don't see the point unless there is a Hi-res edition; in which case I would start drooling!

No.
That was a career abomination.
Heathen and Reality were works of excellence and Tin Machine was a kick to the groin.

Random Bowie comment. It's way late as I write this, but Showtime just showed a 2013 BBC documentary about Bowie called 5 Years about the period between The Rise And Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars (I think I came in late) and Let's Dance. It's mostly talking head type stuff, but the heads include Carlos Alomar, Brian Eno, Robert Fripp, etc. The real deal. I would have sat through three more hours of this stuff . And Bowie, you lied. Based on the clips shown, there is apparently some professionally shot footage of the Station to Station tour. You need to put it out STAT.

I watched this last night on demand. Very well done. It really shows Bowie's genius. I really thought the interviews with Wakeman, Alomar, Eno and Fripp were awesome. I was surprised though, that Nile Rogers made no mention of how or why Stevie Ray Vaughn was brought in to play the Lead fills on the Lets Dance album.
On a another note, I would be floored if Bowie brought on Steve Wilson to start mixing his catalog in 5.1 for BD starting with Low.
