$99.98 isn't bad at all...provided that I have a job by September 23rd. This album has done nothing but grow on me over the years, and I've always respected the risk involved in a band so radically abandoning its established sound as the Pumpkins did here.
I've been relistening to the "Mellon Collie" and "Aeroplane Flies High" boxes recently. Both are fairly amazing--pricy, but I find myself returning to the three "Mellon Collie" bonus discs again and again, and the "Aeroplane" box came with a bonus disc of live songs from the 1996 tout that most bands would have released as a standalone release in time for Xmas of '96. I keep telling myself that I now have five Pumpkins bonus DVD's that I need to sit down and watch; maybe, someday, I will.
One thing worth mentioning: While this set lists three versions of "Blissed And Gone", one version of the track has shown up on two official releases--the "Still Becoming Apart" promo, and "Judas O", the bonus disc that came with early copies of "Greatest Hits" (as well as "17", the final track of "Adore".)
What I'm curious about is the asterisk after "The Beginning Is The End Is The Beginning" on Disc 5--I'd have to think it is an alternate version, as that song (as well as "The End Is The Beginning Is The End") are both owned by Warner, and have never showed up on any Virgin compilation--not even the music video. (You have to buy the "Batman And Robin" DVD to get that.)
Here's the setlist for the 8/4/98 Atlanta show, according to http://www.spfc.org:
1. To Sheila 2. Behold! the Night Mare 3. Pug 4. Crestfallen 5. Ava Adore 6. Tear 7. Annie-Dog 8. Perfect 9. Thru the Eyes of Ruby 10. Tonight, Tonight 11. Once Upon a Time 12. The Tale of Dusty and Pistol Pete 13. Where Boys Fear to Tread (tease) 14. Zero (tease) 15. Bullet with Butterfly Wings 16. Shame 17. For Martha Encore 1: 1. 1979 2. Summertime [Gershwin/Heyward] (tease) 3. Blank Page Encore 2: 1. Transmission [Joy Division] 2. Let's Dance [Bowie] (tease)

Billy Corgan Lashes Out at Amazon for Leaking the Smashing Pumpkins' Adore Reissue Tracklist "I’m very upset that an online retailer broke their agreement, posting up the tracks up before we could do it here first AS THEY’D ASKED." By Jeremy Gordon on July 16, 2014 http://pitchfork.com/news/54960-billy-c ... tracklist/
The Smashing Pumpkins previously announced a deluxe reissue of 1998's Adore, which is out September 23. Today, they've shared full album details on their website, which were accompanied by an angry note from Billy Corgan. He took issue with Amazon for leaking the reissue's details before his planned reveal.
He used this experience as indicative of a problem with the music business as a whole. Here's the full note from Corgan:
Quote:
I spent some time this morning preparing what was meant to be the reveal of the ADORE BOX SET, for where the real juice lies in it is what sonic goodies made their way on it. Notably, I was prepared to share this information here on The Panopticon as far back as two months ago, but made the mistake of asking the record label if I should wait. And if you saw my comments earlier today, you already know that I’m very upset that an online retailer broke their agreement, posting up the tracks up before we could do it here first AS THEY’D ASKED. The irony being where do you think this kind of information comes from, if not for your truly?
Now, let me digress here for a moment. The record business as you already know instinctively is quite bad; and some would say music hasn’t been in such a disadvantageous place in the culture since the selling of commercial music began in the early 1900s. And I for one have been very outspoken about what I would say are harmful business practices, the kind which place artists in an exploitative position vis a vie their rights and ownership of their own work.
Lately though there have been some encouraging signs, particularly in those realms where groups can better own/control/and have some bigger say in how their music is marketed. As an example, The Smashing Pumpkins et al do not own the 90’s albums, although technically it says on a piece of paper that we own 50 pct. But, and this is a big and, I control any use of that music, and having agreed to this reissue campaign a few years back I’ve worked tirelessly to provide, pound-for-pound, the best reissues possible. And believe it or not, in most cases I lose more than I spend on those projects. But this is not to say that I’m not grateful, for I am: to old SP, to our great supporters, and those who’ve taken a new interest in the band because of the depth of our ever-growing catalog.
So in that light you can understand why it boils my blood when ‘ye olde record business stands up and does it same old trample all over what was promised because frankly, they’re more scared of their masters than artists on their rosters. Yes, we are just a small operation over here, and unfortunately on a day that started with so much excitement (the sharing of this info below), now I have to field through excuses to figure out what I can trust going forward. Not because I believe in some corporate logo that helps sell plastic, but because of what I’ve labored to put on that plastic.
Earlier, in a series of tweets, he wrote:

It also comes with a live DVD from Smashing Pumpkins' 1998 tour in which each night's proceeds went to local charities. It was recorded on August 4, 1998 at the Fox Theater in Atlanta.

I'm a little lost: While I understand Corgan's frustration, if it is the conduct of Amazon--an online retailer--he is calling into question, why go on a diatribe against the record business?
(I understand that there are those who feel that I am a shill for the record business. Fuck it.)
I'll just say this--I've never ordered through any of the companies (I believe that so far there has been more than one) through which the Pumpkins have attempted to sell these reissues on their website, but there was quite a bit of backlash from customers about the poor service. At this point, seeing that this "Adore" reissue is unlikely to ever show up on many B & M store shelves, Amazon would seem to be the most reputable outfit from which to buy it.

There were a couple of singles (both EU/Japan imports)--the regular single (the two "Batman" tracks and two instrumental B-sides) and a remix single. Both were on the Warner Brothers label. The Zwan album, Corgan's solo album, and the "Zeitgeist" album was released by Reprise, also a Warner label, in 2007, but Corgan was releasing Pumpkins music for free download within about a year and a half after "Zeitgeist" flopped.
According to Wikipedia, "Oceania" was released by EMI (which owns Virgin, the Pumpkins' original label and the label for these reissues) but part of Corgan's agreement is apparently that there be no indication of this anyplace on the outer or inner packaging of the album.

ICErs who pre-ordered from the original Amazon USA link should check their accounts to make sure that the order is still active and has been transferred to the new listing.
The Amazon Canada link above is currently the best deal, BTW, and perhaps worth locking in -- C$84.39.
