When I was a kid I saw that Showcase comic on the spinner rack at Wal-Mart. I even remember it being at the top of the rack, leftover from the previous month and with the 2nd issue behind it. I wanted it so bad because the cover was so good, but after I opened it and saw the art on the inside I put it back.

Al Milgrom pencils, inked by Murphy Anderson.

Anderson as an inker, yes. Anderson as a penciler, no.

Hawkman by a mile. Better costume, better name, and has two different contorted origins that are both interesting.

Angel is a throw-in character that is not interesting.

After seeing Maleficent, it's a shame that Hawkman and Angel haven't had more screen time in the modern superhero movies. Angelina looked amazing in those special effects.

My favorite Hawkman is the Nick and Nora version from the early 60's. When Carter and Shiera would have a mystery to solve, pick a couple of antique weapons from the museum, and treat the entire thing as an adventure.

I vote Angel because his wings are real.

I enjoy both charcters. I think it's a shame, though, that a character like
Angel, who has the ability that we all want—to fly—is really insignificant in
a comic world where nearly everyone and their brother can fly these days.

Hope you're feeling better,Beachy.
Cool looking helmet aside,I never saw what others see in Hawkman. He uses anti-gravity to fly,yet he still straps on a cumbersome pair of wings.Even as a kid, that seemed bird-brained.The Hawkfolk in the JLU cartoon are my favorites, not least because their wings are real, something they have in common with Angel.Don't pretend to be something you're not.

The belt just messes with gravity - up or down is all they get. The wings are for propulsion and direction control.

At least in the old days, anyway.

Even I, who used to be a Marvel Zombie, know Hawkman is far superior.

I don't like either of them.

I'm going to vote for either Northwind or Red Raven. ;)

Hawkman
Angel
Falcon
Winged Victory
Dawnstar
Birdman!
Submariner
Howard The Duck
Red Raven

I still say Hawkman, but I'd rather have a beer with the Duck.
