I always liked Bob McLeod's inks. Here's an interesting behind the scenes look from his website http://www.bobmcleod.com/start.html

Impressive that Neal Adams could call a company and tell them that they should hire someone as a letterer and they'd hire them sight unseen.

Yeah I thought that too. He was clearly nearly as big a name in comics as he thinks he was :-)

I used to, too, until Linda used Science to prove that he wasn't.

I was thinking about McLeod a couple of days ago. From the beginning of his career, he has been an outstanding inker. He has always complemented the style of every penciler that he has worked with and is one of the few inkers who knew how to ink Gene Colan. I would love to see his inks on Yanick Paquette, Carlos Pacheco, Brent Anderson, Walt Simonson, and Andy Kubert.

That was one of those "One Minute Later" covers.

Yeah, he's a great inker and not a bad penciller either.

There some great examples of before and after pages of pencils with McLeod inking here:

Also McLeod's TwoMorrow's magazine Rough Stuff was very informative about the comic book art process with great interviews by him with other artists. I wish that mag could have continued.

When I was at Future Comics, I tried to get him more work. One of my faves and when he inked Ordway, it was beautiful.

One of the complaints about the industry that McLeod made in Rough Stuff was how the comics companies wanted finished pencils to be so tight that their was little room for creativity for the inkers, and I think he is right. Twenty years ago I could recognize most of the inkers on from just a glance at the art and today it very rarely happens.
