I'm interested!

I'm curious, but primarily to the extent of wondering what could possibly fill up three discs. Plus, it was my understanding that the 2-disc edition from 2006--released when such titles still routinely appeared on B & M shelves--sold so abysmally that it prompted the label demotion from Rhino to Rhino Handmade and Friday Music.

(I should say that I'm referring to the Monkees first, self-titled album, and I'm assuming that this super deluxe edition is an expansion of that 1966 album as well.)

I went to the site and see nothing about it. Was it cancelled?

It was one of those weird press releases that seemed to have been sent out to the internet by accident. The recent Monkees Handmade titles were each put up for pre-order maybe 2-3 months in advance, but announcing a title 8-9 months in advance or whatever is downright strange.

A similar thing happened a while back with a Record Store Day press release that mentioned that Vol. 11 of Bob Dylan's "Bootleg Series" would cover "Blood On The Tracks". Vol. 11 still hasn't appeared or been otherwise announced, se we'll see, but the announcement seemed to be accidental, even if ultimately true.

From what I'm hearing, this will be coming out. And I do believe Andrew Sandoval is involved behind the scenes. It was talked about on the recent episodes of Zilch (Monkees podcast) that were about the first album. My guess is we'll see it later this year.

It was said on the episode that Sandoval bought an acetate that showed up on Ebay...wish I could remember what was on the acetate. But listen to the podcast!
