Tough choice for me:I liked them all, even the third one. It's big flaw was taking on more than it could handle--too many characters, too much plot.
But I'll go with the first one.It rekindled my X-love.

One thing that surprised me about X3 was Kelsey Grammer as the Beast. I thought it would be embarrassing to watch him play that role, but he did a great job. In fact ....that's about all I remember about the movie.

The final tally for the last round...

X-Men 1
X2 7
Last Stand 0
First Class 6

This time?

Missed this the first time round, but I think I still would have gone with First Class. I did like the first ones, I even didn't mind the 3rd as much as some, but I LOVED First Class and it came as a surprise, all the 60s stuff probably helped with me.

I was saying to Ian last night after Days of Future Past, I am so much more emotionally involved in the past characters I don't know if that's cause they are a bit sillier and have less posing, or if it's because they are telling stories I haven't seen different versions of or if they are just better at writing those characters in an emotionally involving way, but I really didn't give a crap any time they shot forward to the future, I just thought man put the cool people back on, I wanna see them!

It's easier, I think, to connect to the earlier characters and stories because the stories were less universe-shattering.
The more and more it becomes about X-Men, once again, saving the universe—instead of Hank and Bobby go on a
double-date and an anti-mutant rally breaks out—the less and less people really can relate.

The movies have gotten too big and the characters too small.

But I recall having liked X-Men 1, 2, and First Class. The 1960s' nostalgia really worked for me in First Class, which
really is why I want to see a 1940s Batman, a 1940s SHAZAM/Captain Marvel, a 1960s Fantastic Four, etc.

The best of everything with Logan as the spoon that stirs the pot, but not as the main ingredient.
