 Do you think that these kinds of humour comics would fly today? Which contemporary comedians and properties could DC and Marvel license that might work well as comic book series?

I'll be honest, I probably wouldn't have been interested in any of those even as a kid. Super-heroes, war, westerns, horror, Archies, Disney ducks, science fiction, sword & sorcery - sure. Real life comedians? Nope.
