The rules are simple. Someone starts by naming a team-up of one DC character/team and one Marvel character/team. The challenge is to see who can pitch the best plot for a team-up of those characters.

Try to keep it 200 words or less. You can go over if you want, but you're probably going to get one of these:

Image

I'll start the first team-up:

The Flash & Dr. Strange

The Flash accidentally ends up in the Marvel Universe while battling a super villain who's casing mayhem - a villain who turns out to be an inter-dimensional bad guy. The Flash is caught in the wake of his dimensional transport wave/beam/whatever when he attempts to escape from the Flash to the MU's Earth, and Flash trapped there, abandoned by the villain, who escapes into the night, leaving a dazed Flash behind him, passed out in an alley.

The Flash awakens, wonders where in the heck he is, and sees Spider-Man battling some bank robbers (some low-grade bad guys of some kind, anyway). He assists, and when he speaks to Spidey afterwards, Spidey is shocked by his weird situation, and takes him to see Dr. Strange ("This is above my pay grade, Flash").

Dr. Strange, upon meeting the Flash, perceives some type of residual mystical aura surrounding him that alerts him to the nature of the original inter-dimensional villain's mode of travel - an ancient amulet that will eventually cause the person using it to become host to a terrifyingly powerful demon. Spidey makes a hasty exit (with an editor's note explaining that he's on his way to some adventure in his own comic book, which is on sale now), and Flash and Dr. Strange use the residual energy which has clung to The Flash to track the super villain.

They find the guy just as he begins to change into a demon, fight the demon, and Dr. Strange figures out some kind of spell that will allow the Flash to use the demon's own destruction as a means of sending Flash back where he originally came from. Flash manages to use his powers to distract the demon, making himself the bait, and Dr. Strange uses his mystical know-how to destroy it...but he must use all his power to ensure the idiot who was using the amulet to begin with survives the demon's destruction.

He manages to do it, Flash returns to his world, and Dr. Strange is left with an amnesiac teenager who has no memory of ever finding or using the amulet. The amulet itself is secured by Dr. Strange, who escorts the confused young man away from the scene of the demon's rampage, wondering if he will ever meet the Flash again.

You counted...how cute! ;)

Have I mentioned that you're not as short or thick as that reviewer said you were? He totally overstated those qualities. :ohyes:

His Flash will be short and thick, but surprisingly fast.

In the future Abra Kadabra has taken the over title of Sorcerer Supreme. The Flash and Dr Strange must race to the future and ensure the title is returned to its rightful owner else history will be rewritten

Mahoney has shown us the way....and yet, mine was conceptually well crafted, and had a Spider-Man cameo.....and....and.....

:Joy:

Ah, I tried.

Also, to be mocked by Doot....this was a blow to my ego too terrible to endure....I mean....how low can you go, really? :ohno:

I was going through some old Word documents, and I found one with the start of a circa-1997 DC Two-In-One Story - Robotman (Stanton-version) and Ragman.

ImageImage

Cover: Ragman in a pawn shop is horrified to find Robotman's head amongst the goods

Trev's old notes wrote:
In A Nutshell:
(Circa 1977) Robotman is tracking Zahl and Madame Rogue (murderers of the Doom Patrol), which brings him to Ragman’s neck of the woods.

Concerns
Why would Robotman pawn his own head? Ragman’s girlfriend is a reporter who hangs out a lot at Ragman’s pawn shop. Robotman times the pawning of his old, damaged head to coincide with one of her visits, figuring it would be a big enough story to make the papers and perhaps draw out Zhal and Rogue, who are not yet aware that Robotman survived the destruction of the Doom Patrol.

Themes
Ragman - The man theme of the Ragman series was urban poverty in an immigrant neighborhood. In both hero and civilian identities, Ragman took care of his neighborhood and its people.

Plot

Scene One

Ragman is on a rooftop, stealthily watching a deal go down outside a warehouse. Below, standing by a moving van, an irritated Zahl and a bored Madame Rogue are speaking to three low-level hoods near an open cargo door. After a bit of banter, a bald old man (yet grotesquely, monstrously muscular) walks through the cargo door effortlessly carrying a large crate. Zahl is amazed – he knows the contents of the crate weigh hundreds of pounds. Rogue is still bored – she believes her powers surpass all. A bit more banter, then Zahl pays the old man. With great effort, the hoods load the crate into the moving van.

That's all I have, except that it was supposed to be an extended storyline that takes Robotman to Metropolis for team-ups with Black Lightning, Guardian & The Newsboy Legion, Rose & Thorn and Jimmy Olsen.

I can't remember who the old bald guy was, or where I was going with the story. :(

I would buy the hell out of this script. The job is yours.

Total score: 3 Francos (out of 4)

You forgot to say Serious Efforts Preferred in the thread title. That's proven to stop the nonsense.

After a lighting storm, Ronnie Raymond finds that he has two personalities floating above him in the panel -- Dr. Stein and Peter Parker, who's been displaced from his body by Otto Octavious. After a brief argument about who is the most angsty, Parker enlists Firestorm in the mission to regain his body from Otto. Parker asks, "Do you ever just melt the bad guy right off?"
