The album was the second in Jones’ so-called Compass Point Trilogy, produced by Chris Blackwell and Alex Sadkin at Blackwell’s Bahamas recording studio. Widely regarded as her best studio work, the record spawned many singles including Pull Up To The Bumper, Demolition Man and I’ve Seen That Face Before (Libertango). This deluxe reissue sees Nightclubbing remastered for the first time with the bonus CD bringing together a large number of remixes, as well as offering two previously unreleased tracks (including a cover of the Gary Numan/Tubeway Army track Me! I Disconnect From You.

No fewer than six versions of Pull Up To The Bumper can be found in this new double disc set including the 1985 remix, the rare 1981 ‘Party Version’, and Peanut Butter, an instrumental version of the song. Sadly, their is no place for the ‘Musclemix’ – a megamix which starts and ends with Pull Up To The Bumper and in between takes in some of Jones’ greatest hits, including three tracks from Nightclubbing.

A two-LP gatefold heavyweight vinyl record will also be issued, with the second LP including six remixes (as well as the two unreleased tracks).

The good news is that Universal appear to have ticked all the boxes with this release. The double LP comes with a digital download, and there will be a physical hi-res option with a Pure Audio blu-ray audio edition that contains all 22 tracks found on the two-CD deluxe version.

Nightclubbing is reissued on 28 April 2014.

Anyone have any idea what's up with the USA release date for this? Amazon is still indicating they don't know when it's going to ship, but it's been released overseas - I have UK friends who have it in their hot little hands...

Despite the typos in the liner notes, this is well worth getting. It's a rare instance where the bonus disc might get more plays on my stereo than the actual album!

Did you get yours via Amazon? I pre-ordered back in March. They still indicate not knowing when it's going to -- if it's ever going to -- ship.

Yes, I got mine through Amazon.co.uk. It shipped at 9.99 GBP and 3.08 GBP postage, which is about $17 + $5.

remaster = A- (pretty damn nice!)
bonus tracks on disc 2 = A- (worth the price of admission... and more!)

I'd have shelled out for "Me! I Disconnect From You" alone, but this whole package is top-notch in every way. Response seems to be overwhelmingly positive for this release, which gives me a sliver of hope that a spiffed-up "Warm Leatherette" may follow someday.

I'd love to see a Living My Life deluxe edition with the 12" version of "The Apple Stretching"!
