One bit of bad news (though most her fans won't care; In fact I suspect most of her fans will buy the mp3 version), it's a very brickwalled DR7. I still hope to enjoy it, I love her first 2.

Really enjoyed her first album, but on the second (and it's related b-sides) I thought a lot of her melodies were kind of samey. Not writing her off just yet but I'm proceeding with caution.

I have a copy, haven't had the chance to play it yet.

There's actually several new releases by artists I like: this one, Imelda May, the Jann Arden i also posted about, & Tori Amos. It's been awhile. I'm usually more of a "Vaults" kind of guy!

A little disappointed on first listen. It MAY be partially because I had difficulty understanding the lyrics, & they are much of her charm; but on first listen only the title track & a song about it's:Hard To Be A Bitch" (or something like that) really struck me. I really like her 1st 2 cd's.

She was just on Jimmy Fallon's show last night singing "Hard Out Here" - that song is so much better without all the stupid auto tune effects on her voice.

At least you could probably understand the lyrics!

They're pretty clear.

While that was one of the few tracks I could largely understand on the album, the lyrics are much more clear here. I'm also impressed in that she's really performing live.

That is a good example of why I bitch so much about brickwalling & modern production; this was totally & clearly understandable; something i can't say for the album.

Thanks for the link!

I liked the album though nowhere near as much as her previous releases. There just weren't any stand-out songs this time, or at least not with the few times I've played the CD. But I thought the lyrics were pretty clear & the production very good. Maybe it's just my ears.

Watching A PBS broadcast of "Live From The Artist's Den" promoting this album. She's not at all a bad performer, & the songs come across better live.

On the neg side; the PBS censors are going crazy, & at minimum she has taped backup vocals. I THINK her lead vocals are live, but I won't swear to it; or to the use (or non use) of auto tune.

One other comment: there were times she was singing 3 & 4 part harmony with herself IN CONCERT. I know that most "modern artists" don't think twice about faking it, but I had held her in higher regard than that. And it would have sounded fine without the taped or autotuned harmonies.
