I've always had ported speakers with fairly small woofers, but good bass response -- currently, Paradigm Studio 20's, which I love. A few months ago, I picked up a larger pair of speakers from Craigslist, Paradigm 5se's, and although they're not as good as my regular speakers (but not bad at all), they do have significantly more bass response, which I was enjoying a lot. So, I decided to pick up a (used) powered subwoofer, a Paradigm PDR-10, to add to my system to fill out the bottom end. Holy crap. Why didn't I do this a long time ago? I almost start crying thinking about what I was missing all those years.
