A new old Doors' greatest hits? Cool! I need another Doors' best of.

It would have been nice if they'd beefed this up a bit with some obvious choices, but it's good to see it at all and it's really cheap at Amazon in the UK.

I had this back in the day and loved it. I'll pass because I have all the albums and a bunch of comps (not to mention a ton of shows), but it does bring back nice memories.

Of course "Weird" was a sequel to "13", none of the tracks are repeated, you could say "Weird" is "13" Vols 2 & 3.

But yeah, they should release "13" too, I played that LP to death...

Doors 13 was a big 8 track tape around here. We never left home without it. In 1978 to 80 it was all Doors Doors Doors and 13 was the soundtrack.

I can see the new and latest trend in the always imaginative music industry being reissues of best of compilations which have been out of print for years due to their being eclipsed by newer and more recent compilations.

I really enjoyed this album growing up. It was the only doors album I owned and at the time it seemed spooky and arcane. I don't own any doors comps--I just own the first album--so I think I'm going to buy this. Typical question though: does it come in a jewel case? Hmmm.

I have to admit I never realized this. Weird Scenes was the first thing I ever bought by the Doors and I just remember thinking it was a great introduction to the band. Somehow it never occurred to me that it didn't include "Light My Fire," "People Are Strange" and a bunch of other hits.

Pretty sure I bought Absolutely Live First, than #1, than 1 or more of the greatest hits, than LA Woman, & didn't go full catalog until at least my 30's.

Your right, it might be the only comp (and this is from way back in the 70s not long after the group broke up and Morrison has just died), where the biggest hit is not included. Seemed more for the hardcore fan.

"Riders on the Storm" was the hit I most wanted, and Weird Scenes did include that one, so for a long time it was all the Doors I needed.

Aside from the two B-sides, I can't see why anyone would need this.

I completely understand your point, however, you're assuming rational people. I don't think there's ever been much evidence in here than any of us are rational.

I can't speak for others, but for me, there's something nostalgic about this compilation. I can't say for sure whether or not I'll buy it, but it's nice to know that I'll be able to. Count me in as one who would also like to see "13" get released.
