You will never hear Jimbo say he has too many CDs.

When you're me and CDs are EVERYWHERE in the house- bedrooms, closets, hallways, stairway landings. No bathrooms yet, but give me time. It'll come.

When you buy a CD you already have.

\When you have multiple copies of the same title that are you justify because theirs a slight variation (track list, cover, import, etc.).

I'm sorry, I don't understand the premise.

Is this something like the "too many guitars" thing? I never got that, either.

the thrill is buying it - you might listen to it later if ever - it is always there if you need it.

you purchase multiple copies because you are not sure if you have it.

you purchase it because it is an upgrade over the copies you own - knowing that your 60 year old ears can't tell the difference.

you purchase it knowing you have it but you can't find it so it is easier just getting another copy.

I resemble that at times!

My book collection is the worst; I have no list of my real books at all. My kindle books I can at leasy look at the folder on my pc were I back them up.

Bloody hell replace CD with DVDs and some of these apply to me.

DVD's, me too. I have both habits.

I buy a lot of comics.

You finally thinned down your collection to just the stuff you really really like, and it would still take several years to listen to them all.

Once I retire I will probably spend a month just going through the collection and culling it down to something more reasonable.
Many of the CDs I've bought over the years haven't aged well as the groups or artists fell out of favor. I was once one of those "I need this CD just for that one song even though the rest of the album is terrible" kind of guys.

It would make sense to just burn many of those one hit wonders to a CDR and make a kicking comp.

Some day I plan to do just that, tough I'll probably end up with 50-100 cd's to join my huge VA section (where much of it will come from; I'm known to buy a VA or soundtarck cd from 1 artist I collect.)

There are some great gems never heard anywhere buried in my collection. I did a comp CD many years ago that I played last Summer on a trip up to Boston for Jimbo. Even he discovered some gems contained on that CDR.
