Bachman-Turner Overdrive will release a 40th Anniversary Edition of their 1974 classic, “Not Fragile”, on March 18.

The band’s third album, “Not Fragile” went on to sell over 3.6 million copies worldwide, fueled by the strength of the smash single “You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet”, a track not intended to make the album that shot to No. 1 in a dozen countries and Top 10 in a dozen more.

The 40th Anniversary Edition will be released digitally, on a two CD expanded set and on re-mastered 180 gram vinyl.

“'Not Fragile' was when it all came together for us,” says Randy Bachman. “We captured the album-oriented rock audience as well as the singles audience with that album. ‘Not Fragile’ made BTO recognized around the world. That was a milestone album and our crowning achievement.”

The reissue comes two weeks before Bachman-Turner Overdrive will be inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame at the 2014 Juno Awards in their hometown of Winnipeg, Manitoba on March 30.

This certainly looks interesting, but I'd really love to see a longer live release as a stand-alone, something from back in the late-70's.

'You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet' remains one of the best singles of that era. Love when it comes on the radio (and it doesn't come on enough).

I truly hate this band!

But in the spirit of IMWAN I had to post it for the peeps who do like them.

A friend who doesn't (to say the least) get how I can possibly own "so many CDs from the 70s" once asked, "Is there any rock band from the '70s you don't like?"

BTO is Exhibit #1. :barf:

I am on this for sure. This is one of the first LP's that I ever bought with my own money. My collection up until then was "borrowed" from my Uncle.

Bump: Added cover image and pre-order link to the first post. So far only a Canadian pressing has appeared, which I guess shouldn't be a surprise.

Seeing the track listing it looks tasty.

For me, their 1st 2 albums were very good, & everything after that sucks.

I'm amazed that this hasn't shown up at the other Amazons even as an import. The listing page exists solely at Amazon Canada, where it's been in stock since Tuesday:

(There are no reviews yet.)

It's probably mentioned in another thread, but I just read that Live in Japan 1977 came out as an SHM cd last year.

Bump: There's finally a listing for this release at Amazon USA, but only as an import. Some third party sellers' prices are currently better deals than ordering directly from Amazon Canada ...

The sound is a distinct upgrade from all previous versions that I've heard, including the BGO and MoFi remasters. Actually, listening to it made me wonder if nobody had used the true Canadian master tapes before this.

No disrespect intended towards Randy Bachman or Fred Turner, but I've got to believe that there's less demand for their recent live stuff than for their original studio recordings.

That would seem to be the case................

I always thought my original Mercury release didn't sound too bad. The Kevin Gray remaster on AF was a touch better. At home, I will always defer to my DTS 5.1 copy. I ordered this last week from Canada so I can't wait to hear it.

My 40th Anniversary Edition showed up today. I agree with Linda that this is the best sounding version on CD. After comparing the other versions I have though, I think the reason it sounds so much better is because not only has it been remastered, but it has also been remixed. It does state in the booklet: 40th Anniversary 2014 Mixing & Mastering: Christian Stonehouse, but that may only refer to the Live tracks. No other info is given.
