I've asked this before, but perhaps not in a dedicated thread. The question might have been overlooked.

And, also, Swanderson is the only one I can think of who might know it. Wait, also James. Wait, also Flameboy. A small cadre of classic DC aficionados.

There was a comic book I enjoyed as a lad. Could have been from the 1970's. Might have read it in the 1980's (early), but feels like it was a back issue.

It's either a Justice League story, or else many heroes were fighting different enemies. They were split up, fighting separately. Green Lantern is fighting a yellow cat-like animal, like a tiger or mountain lion. He has a great inner monologue about personal fortitude, and downs with a two-fisted punch. Grasps his fists together and hits it like he's swinging a bat.

It's driving me crazy. What was that from.

I'm out of state and away from my JLA files, but JLA #65 (second part of the first appearance of the Red Tornado) has Hal battling a Griffin.

I'll jump on the thread to add my own DC-centric question.

It's an issue of Justice League of America, during the Detroit era. Martian Manhunter and Aquaman are both in the issue - one of them is on the satellite shutting things down or something, while the other one is leading the Detroit team. I'm pretty sure it's the first official comic book I read, about a year or two before I really started reading comics.

The satellite was damaged during a fight against Green Martians (JLofA v1 #228-230) and was abandoned after Aquaman disbanded the JLA in the second annual/JLAofA #233; they wouldn't return to the Satellite until issue #244, the issue after Aquaman left the team (what a douche), just before it's completely destroyed during Crisis.

I'm thinking you're Scorching the Crateâ„¢. It doesn't fit your description completely, but that Green Martian arc may be what you're looking for. It's pre-Detroit JLA, but the lineups are very similar, and since it was the return of J'onn after a long absence and Aquaman was chairman of the team, they are both featured prominently.

"There's No Stopping Us Now."

What a lame slogan.

"There's no stopping us now"...but we're going to reboot things in a couple of years.

I wouldn't envy anybody who had a lot of angry Martians on his tail. They can be vicious!
