This movie will save us from Superman vs Batman.

I wish they would recast the X-Men, but I know that is not going to happen.

I would seriously like a reboot that would return the original five, but I know that is not possible with the new First Class franchise. For me replacing them with others is like replacing the Fantastic Four with new heroes with different powers.

I think I mentioned before that my dream trilogy would be movie one with the original five in the late 60s. The second would introduce the All-New All-Different X-Men in the mid-70s. The final movie would be the Dark Phoenix Saga set in the early 80s.

I've devised a way to accomplish three consecutive reboots, and it just might work. Rat-a-tat-tat! Reboot!!

You know, that could indeed work.

I would like to see the prequel of this series.

I would definitely use the original stories. I just bumped them up to the late '60s so that they would not be too old by the DPS. I would rather see the Lee/Kirby than Thomas/Adams. I'm sure that I'm in the minority would thinks that the latter run is overrated.

Extremely likely.

Possible storyline for the movie has been posted.

It's supposed to show up as an after credit scene in X-Men First Class: Days of Future Past so spoilered in case it's right and you didn't want to know.

Spoiler: show
Quote:
"...the credits bumper jumps back to the past with a young Erik Lehnsherr (Michael Fassbender) in a ramshackle house in the desert eating dinner, clearly on the run from all the authorities who want to bring him down. While using a well outside to get some water, the young Magneto sees something fall from the night sky and crash to Earth nearby. Upon inspecting the impact zone, he encounters what is described as an "alien form" who is "towering, terrifying, with a twisted metal face and dark pits for eyes." It's Apocalypse and he says, "I have crossed rivers of time to find you." Magneto asks, "Who are you?"

The alien responds, "I am your future." Suddenly Apocalypse merges with Magneto, who screams and blasts an insane amount of energy and shockwaves around him. This energy explosion levels everything around him, with a blast radius that goes for miles. As Magneto looks at what he's done, he has a realization of the power he now holds and a villainous grin begins to form before the film cuts to black."

‘X-Men Apocalypse’ Is An ’80s Period Piece, Will Feature Mass Destruction

Quote:
X-Men Apocalypse is more than just that other 2016 Marvel superhero movie. The Fox sequel to X-Men: First Class and this summer’s X-Men: Days of Future Past has been quietly building momentum while DC and Marvel prepare for battle with their big films Batman vs. Superman and Captain America 3. X-Men: Apocalypse comes out a few weeks after those two, on May 27, 2016. Bryan Singer, Dan Harris, Michael Dougherty and Simon Kinberg are all currently working on breaking down the story, which will probably deal with the super-evil mutant of the title.

In a new interview, Singer revealed a few more details on the film, including the fact it’ll be an Eighties period piece, and the logical continuation of the Seventies look of Days of Future Past, and that it will have “will more of the mass destruction that X-Men films, to date, have not relied upon.” Read the quotes below.

Singer spoke to Total Film (via Comic Book Movie) and said the following about the film:

Quote:
We’re going to deal the the notion of ancient mutants – the fact they were born and existed thousands of years ago. But it’ll be a contemporary movie – well, it’ll take place in the ’80s… The ’80s is a period now – it’s hard for me to believe that! ‘Apocalypse’ will have more of the mass destruction that ‘X-Men’ films, to date, have not relied upon. There’s definitely now a character and a story that allow room for that kind of spectacle.

He was then asked to possibly comment on that aforementioned character who allowed for destruction:

Quote:
I don’t want to get too specific, but we’ll introduce familiar characters in a younger time. That’ll be fun to show the audience. I call these movies in-between-quels. It’s a mind-fuck, sometimes, in terms of where things fall in the timeline!

And though Apocalypse won’t be released until 2016, Singer seems pretty committed to telling even more X-Men stories beyond that.

Quote:
Yeah, there actually are [more stories I want to tell]. It all stems back to when I did [the first] X-Men. You always want to know where a character’s going to go, what their future’s going be like. You can always sequelise. But on that film I also had actors asking ‘Who am I? Where did my character come from?’ So as a director you always need a backstory to give your actors. It may not be the right backstory, but it’s one you can give the actor to help them understand their character. These prequels are really exciting for me because they give me a chance to explore ideas I came up with more than a decade ago.

With X-Men: Days of Future Past quickly approaching (a new trailer is planned this month) we’ll surely be hearing much more about it’s already in development sequel, X-Men: Apocalypse, soon.

X-Men: Days of Future Past opens May 23. X-Men Apocalypse comes two years later.

Doing one in the 60's, 70's and 80's, I think they should stop after that and keep it as the "pre-trilogy" and move on from there. Plenty of X-men to go around in the present day, after they fix the evil future with DOFP.

Present day being 30 years after the 80s, they could do more set in the past before they get to today. You're thinking like a 90s guy (like I often do) as if it's more or less "now".

No, I'm just referring to the first X-men film coming out in 1999 and then the next few coming out in the 'aughts. As far as I'm concerned, they've already covered those time zones. But I suppose early '90's is still viable.

I don't really think like a '90's guy---I'm very much in the here and now---but sometimes I am surprised that it's already 20 years ago. But then again, at 51, I'm ancient.

I didn't mean to suggest you always do. :) I'm a here and now guy myself. But I still very often fall into thinking of the 90s as "not long ago". But in the X-verse, doing something 90s means Liefeld, probably, so I'm ok with just skipping that and pretending we've caught up!

Word now is that the movie will be set in 1983.

Lots of songs from Thriller and Synchronicity.

I had heard that they'd be coming full circle in this one to show Xavier forming the team as we saw it in X1.... But now I'm wondering just how young Cyke, Jean, and Storm will be. It seemed like they were in their 20's ----Storm being older though in X1. Possibly early teens for Scott and Jean, when their powers just started to develop.

Xavier and Magneto will be hitting their 50's, too......

Mutants age slower (at least that's what I would go with).
