Eagle Rock has set a May 12 release date for DIO's "Live In London: Hammersmith Apollo" on DVD, Blu-ray, 2CD and digital formats.

Filmed at London, England's Hammersmith Apollo on December 12, 1993, this previously unreleased concert film captures the then newly reformed DIO band on the last night of their European tour in support of the "Strange Highways" album. With a lineup of Ronnie James Dio (vocals), Vinny Appice (drums), Jeff Pilson (bass) and Tracy G (guitar), the band delivered a blistering performance on tracks from the "Strange Highways" album, previous DIO classics and favorites from Ronnie's career with BLACK SABBATH and RAINBOW.

What a terrible era for Dio.

Tracy G was just awful to listen to. The worst and most unsuccessful era for Ronnie and his band.

No way I buy this.

I was going to say the same thing. I had the displeasure of seeing Ronnie with Tracy G in the band back 97 or so. The only good thing about the show was getting to meet Ronnie and talk to him for a few minutes afterwards. Got him to sign a copy of "Stars" and reminisced about the Last In Line being my first concert.

I feel the opposite on this one. Strange Highways was a real grower for me after not being that impressed with it originally. It was a far better record than the follow-up, Angry Machines, which is the worst full-length Ronnie ever sang on. Not a huge fan of Tracy G but it's nice to get some live Dio that isn't the same old-same old rehash from the 4 four Dio albums era. Was very pleased to see 6 Strange Highway songs on this. A must add to my collection, hopefully there will be a version that packs both the BluRay and the 2 CDs together.

Ditto. I love "Strange Highways" - its actually one of my favorite DIO albums. The fact that they cut Tracy G's atrocious attempt at "Mistreated" from this era is also a huge bonus. I'm in for the Blu.

Disliked the album immensely. Ugly-ass sound and feel.

Tracy G's playing and tone were brutal but it made sense for Ronnie to have things tuned down and do the Nu Metal thing. I did understand what he was doing during this era.

This album was better than Angry Machines but that ain't saying much.

I'm also fairly certain the band expanded with Scott Warren on keyboards on this tour though the description doesn't say that. He would stay all the way through until Dio ended.

This show was recorded before the album even came out in the US which I think was February 1994.

If only I even semi-liked this era I might get this, but I doubt I will.
