The latest MOJO magazine reports that Definitely Maybe will be reissued by Big Brother Recordings on May 19 on remastered CD, special edition 3CD, vinyl and deluxe boxset.
Man, I can't wait! I will pre-order these as soon as Linda sees a Amazon link.
Also from Owens Morris website "Well, isn’t life strange. I’m in Metropolis with legendary mastering engineer, Ian Cooper, re-mastering Definitely Maybe. Tomorrow we’ll be re-masteing Morning Glory. And then the beast that is Be Here Now in a couple of weeks time. Finding the tapes has been fun: but we seem to have most of them. Just got to try remembering which mixes were actually used when I mastered the albums originally…..almost twenty years ago……"

This should be fabulous. Oasis had enough B-sides and unreleased tracks to practically fill two extra discs for every album. I hope they also include the Noel-sung demos for as many songs as possible.

PS Thanks for being the great librarian that you are in proper titling and all.

Seems strange that by the 1990's record companies didn't have staff whose entire job was to store and catalogue the tapes and keep track of what original mixes were used.

This is awesome news I'd been waiting years for.
I only have the albums from Be Here Now on as CDs, as I kept waiting for the legendary first two to get the royal treatment.
I hope ALL the albums do, I am a fan of each and every album.
One of the greatest bands ever and I was fortunate enough to see them live.
Totally agree with you IP. You got me beat though, never saw them which was a big oversight.
I have the first two CD's in Dual Disc Hi Rez but it's nothing to brag about. This reissue series will be the "real deal".

Yeh, those were not so hot. I also have the old SACD of Morning Glory, which is a good surround mix but emphasises the severe use of compression and limiting in the original recording:

Okay, guys, the remastered editions of Definitely Maybe are now up for pre-order at Amazon UK and all the details are in the first post. Morning Glory and Be Here Now will be coming later in the year.
The big box set looks gorgeous, but there are no additional optical discs in it. If you want only CDs and don't care about the vinyl or the inserts, then the 3-CD Deluxe Edition is the way to go. It has the original album, all the contemporaneous B-sides plus the post-album "Whatever" single, and a bunch of extra demos and live tracks.
No Blu-ray is currently scheduled.
(Note: Amazon mistakenly shows the big box set as "6 CDs". It isn't. It's the same 3 CDs from the Deluxe Edition, 2 vinyl LPs and a vinyl 7-inch.)

The remaster series has been entitled Chasing The Sun, from a line in "Slide Away". Unfortunately, it also has 1993-1997 as a subtitle, which indicates that the remasters will only be of the first three albums.

Hmmmph... tracklisting's a bit messy, isn't it?
What they should have done, is include the non-album singes/Bs on on disc 1; then have disc 2 made up of demos & alternate mixes; than had all the live songs on disc 3.

Am I missing something, or did they fail to include the b-side "Bring It on Down (Live)" from the "Shakermaker" CD-single?

Liam Gallagher weighs in with the kind of special insight that only he can offer:
[twitter]439561374826782720[/twitter] Beady Eye split with their management a couple of days ago. Liam has been in tantrum mode again, ranting about that and Noel having too much control over the remaster series as well as being credited for too much of Oasis' legacy.

Liam will feel better once those royalty checks rolling in. In all serious though, I believe Liam, deep down would like to see a reunited Oasis but Noel may just enjoy this new found freedom and the reissue series is another step in putting Oasis behind him. Just a thought....
