I'd bring back Marvel Tales but with a new twist. Instead of just reprinting Spider-Man, I'd reprint Marvel's greatest and most classic story arcs with new colors. None of that overly rendered stuff, but more like what Laura Allred or Dave Stevens does.

Most would be one to three issue arcs. Some of the first one I'd get to are The Master Planner Saga, The Coming of Galactus, Thor Versus Hercules, the first Hulk/Leader story, etc.

That would be sweet. SWEET.

So, you'd basically rape everything Stan Lee and Steve Ditko stood for.

You sicken me.

Though "The Impregnable Hy-Men" sounds like one of Stan Lee's bullshit ideas.

Wasn't Marvel Tales usually re-colored with current tech anyway? I think the Marvel Megazines of the mid-90s, were, too.

Yes, they were recoloured.

This was re-coloured with that new fangled 'psychedelic drug' technique, right?

I'd leave Marvel just the way it is. Now, if I ran DC...

If I ran Marvel, the first thing I would do is fire Hickman. His characters are verbose, pompous and grim. His stories are long on set up and conversation and short on action. By far the most overrated writer at Marvel and the industry as a whole.

I would not allow any storyline to run over 6 issues. Give me a 3rd act and then move one.

I would give Magik her own series by Chris Bachalo and a good writer such as Remender. She's sexy, wicked and her sword gives a physicality to her magic that is more defined and understandable than spell-casting.

Click for full size

Since the Omnibuses are the best dollar value, I would put entire yearly runs of "family" books in them (the X-books, Avengers books, solo Avengers, etc.), a new annual for a new age.

I would return Emma Frost to being a villain and send out a directive that the line between good guy and bad guy will no long be as fuzzy as it has been over the past decade. One can stray to the other side for a specific story, but must return afterward.

I would kill off Jubilee, shorten Falcon's wings, return Carol Danvers to being Ms. Marvel/give her her Cockrum costume back, and have an Eternals series set on a parallel Earth without other heroes.

My final edict would be to bring back the fun and adventure and knock off the seriousness and sarcasm.

Yeah. Marvel's going to get right on that.

I would see if there could be no events, crossovers, or reboots for at least a year. Make the readers really hungry for a crossover event.

You're either mocking him or being clever. I can't figure out which.

I really like Hanzo's Marvel Tales idea. Though, with cheap trades and digital copies, it really isn't needed. But I would have loved it back in the pre-tpb day if this had been how Marvel Tales had run. MT was one of my first subscriptions along with X-Factor if I remember correctly.

The only reason I would do the Marvel Tales thing (instead of direct to TPB) is that it seems the companies still need to "double dip" to make the money to justify it. Kirby's recolored "Tales of Asgard" was done as a mini-series before it was collected in trade form and Marvel will do an occasional one-shot recolored, like Avengers #1 and Amazing Spider-Man #1.

The only recolored work I've seen that went directly to collection format was Simonson's Thor run... and Marvel hasn't bothered recoloring any of the omnibus books after that (despite the new colors looking amazing -- it was the main reason I bought it, as I already had those issues).

If I ran Marvel I'd do everything I could to keep anybody from finding out. I don't need all the fan hate I'd catch, no matter what I did.

I'm sure I could think of lots of changes I'd like to make, but in today's media market that would probably just bankrupt the company.

Cheat answer: Put Kevin Feige in charge. And keep Hickman because Infinity was amazing. :)
