First time hearing about this. The LEGO movie.

My favourite character is without a doubt, 1980 something space guy.

Though the best line is, "I only work in black. And sometimes very, very dark gray."

Channing Tatum will be voice of Superman in 'The Lego Movie'

Channing Tatum has joined the voice cast of The Lego Movie.

He'll voice the role of Superman in the forthcoming computer-animated comedy, the film's directors announced at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday (July 21). Meanwhile, Jonah Hill and Cobie Smulders have also been added to the voice cast and will play Green Lantern and Wonder Woman respectively.

Billed as "the greatest movie ever assembled", the story follows an average Lego minifigure called Emmet as he's mistaken for an extraordinary and all-powerful "MasterBuilder". He's then sent on a mission to defeat an evil tyrant who's plotting to destroy the universe by gluing it together - a task, the synopsis teases, that Emmet is "hopelessly and hilariously underprepared for".

Emmet is voiced by Parks And Recreation's Chris Pratt, while the impressive voice cast also includes Will Ferrell, Morgan Freeman, Liam Neeson, Elizabeth Banks, Nick Offernan and Alison Brie. Arrested Development star Will Arnett provides the voice of another superhero, Batman.

The Lego Movie was directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, the duo behind Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs, with Chris McKay (Robot Pigeon) serving as co-director. Lord and Miller also wrote the screenplay. The film is set to open in cinemas on February 14, 2014.

QFT!

And a "Take On Me" remix is a great choice of soundtrack, too. I will drive the bus to this movie.

The Lego Movie opens Friday. Currently at 97% fresh on RT--the one negative review is by NY Post critic Kyle Smith, who's a jerk.

I'll be attending tomorrow afternoon. Looks like a whole lotta fun, and will be a big hit.

It certainly makes for a great trailer.

I predict comics fans will be calling this the best super-hero movie ever
and saying the big studios making live action super-hero movies
could learn a lesson from The Lego Movie.

Wish it was in 3D! Are the toy stores selling a special line from the movie?

Hey John, check your local listings! It's playing in 3D everywhere. No IMAX 3D, though.

Despite my hatred of it, the only time slot we could go to was the 3D showing. Maybe there is no 3D in your theater? And yes, I seem to remember the toys being pushed in the Lego magazine over the last several months.

It's definitely in 3D. I'm not going to the 3D showing because I hate the extra cost on top of an already costly outing. :)

There's a 3-D version of it playing at my theatre...

3D works best with animation. Most of the animated blockbusters over the past few years have been well worth the extra charge for 3D.

Oh I hope not. I'd hate for this to be reduced to some type of cheesy toy tie-in.
