I read on this forum that the US release for the Genesis remasters will be releases by RHino beginning on April 24. However, none of the major sites (CD Universe, Amazon....) or even Rhino's official site even mention this. They still only list the UK releases.

Can anyone confirm that the US releases are absolutely happening next month? Thanks.

Does anyone else wish they hadn't included Calling All Stations in the second box? Why not just do two boxes of 4 studio albums each for the Phil years and do a separate release of CAS?

No-I really like that album (especially the title cut, Uncertain Weather, Dividing Line, Shipwrecked and One Man's Fool) and releasing it as part of the box will let many people who never heard it listen to it. Also, there's no way that would be the one album that got a stand-alone release.

Very disappointing to see another artist altering their history. Surround Sound mixes are one thing, but when they start remixing the 2 channel stereo, I just think it ain't right. What happened to maintaining the intregrity of the original album?

Now I need to make sure to buy as many of the soon-to-be-deleted CD's that I can to ensure I have the proper mix.

This is the version of the box set which includes an NTSC DVD, currently listed as an April 12th release date at CD Universe. Possibly a good deal if you use the Google Checkout coupon listed at the top of the board.

(CDU will also have the individual SACDs of course.)

Linda, any clue if these are coming as stand-alones?

Oh yes indeed!

Just scroll down to the Imports section of the page. The NTSC versions are nearly $20 cheaper than the PAL versions, BTW. (Wonder why CDU is even bothering to import the PAL ones.)

I'm sorry, I meant the US releases not the UK-I knew they were coming as stand alones. My friend at Rhino is supposed to let me know tomorrow, so I'm just holding out for now which is killing me!

... question, IP. Would American standalones be hi-rez DVD-A, or just plain redbooks?

So far, I have no official information regarding the US releases. None of the major CD sites list them, nor does Rhino's official site so I think it appears only the UK versions will be available.

If and when they're released in the USA, they won't be hi-rez but will have a DD 5.1 mix.

If you want hi-rez (SACD), you need to order these abroad.

Agreed.

These Genesis SACDs have remixed stereo versions.
They will likely replace the current Definitive Edition remasters... but wasn't some of these DE CDs remixed as well?

The Doors are *remixed* on their new Doors 40th Anniversary CDs... and now Genesis is remixed.

Keep the original mixes!

Years ago you'd sell or give away your old CDs and replace them with the newest remaster but these days you need to hold on to your originals. Jeesh!:(

Guys-
While I agree about not messing with history, if these mixes are the same as some of the tracks on "The Platinum Collection" from 2004 not only are they marginally different, they sound very nice.
Now, if they have been seriously altered I will be very angry. I guess I'll have to find out the hard way!

It's now $159.99. Better get buying before the price rises any further - or wait for the US (non-SACD) box to save some money (that's what I'm going to have to do.)

The price just got lowered to 129.98 from 149.98. The official street date is 05-15-07.

Here's some information on all of them.

First of three Genesis box sets that in total will upgrade their entire catalog.

12-disc box presents five landmark albums from the iconic group’s Phil Collins era, eachin 2-disc CD + DVD editions plus a new rarities title also in CD + DVD format.

Release timed to build off excitement from Genesis’ 2007 “Turn It On Again” tour, featuring a band line-up including Phil Collins, Tony Banks, and Mike Rutherford for the first time in 15 years!

The CD/audio disc for each of the five catalog titles presents new stereo mixes of the original album—the 6th CD/audio disc of rarities presents unearthed gems spanning ’76-’82.

Each DVD disc includes a 5.1 DTS Surround Sound of the album plus bonus video content, photo galleries, images of memorabilia and previously unseen 2007 interviews with band members filmed just for this historic reissue project. The box includes close to 4 hours of previously unreleased video material!

1976’s TRICK OF THE TAIL, the band’s first post-Gabriel release, ushered in the Phil Collins era with a Billboard® Top 40 album that on critical and fan acclaim. Highlights include the single “Ripples,” the intense album opener “Dance On A Volcano,” the instrumental finale “Los Endos” and the title track, a pop-skewed, prog-rock stand-out.
DVD extras include videos for the title track, “Ripples” and “Robbery, Assault And Battery” plus 40 minutes of 1976 concert footage, 2007 band interviews and more.

1977’s WIND & WUTHERING scored #26 in Billboard® and counts among its treasures the prog-rock beauties “Eleventh Earl Of Mar,” “One For The Vine,” and “All In A Mouse’s Night” plus the Rutherford-penned pop-rock gem “Your Own Special Way,” their first U.S. chart hit. Bonus DVD content includes rare video bootlegs of the bands 1977 U.S.
and Japanese television appearances, that year’s world tour program and more.

1978’s . . . AND THEN THERE WERE THREE . . ., which tips its hat to the band’s debut as a trio, hit #14 on the album chart and delivered their first U.S. Top 40 hit, “Follow You Follow Me” (#23) plus “Undertow,” “Snowbound,” and more. DVD bonus features include
videos for “Follow You Follow Me” and the powerful ballad “Many Too Many” plus 25 minutes of previously unseen 1978 concert footage.

1980’s DUKE reached #11 in Billboard® and was the group’s first #1 LP in the U.K. Features the standouts “Turn It On Again,” “Misunderstanding,” and the debut of Collins’
trademark, prominent electronic drum sound on “Duchess.” Bonus DVD content includes videos for those three songs and 40 minutes of live performance footage from an ’80 show at London’s Lyceum.

1981’s brilliant, power pop-leaning ABACAB broke the Top 10, landing at #7, and delivered three classic Top 40 singles: “No Reply At All,” “Man On The Corner,” and the title track. Bonus DVD extras include video for those songs plus “Keep It Dark” and the 1981 World Tour program.

The newly compiled EXTRA TRACKS 1976–1982, available only with this box, features 13 rarities from Genesis’ wealth of non-album tracks including the hit single “Paperlate,” “You Might Recall” from the 3x3 EP and great b-sides including “It’s Yourself” and “Submarine.”
DVD content includes the video for “Paperlate” and extensive interview footage.

The list on the two disc sets is 19.98
