One too few . . .
My prediction is 18 based on what I know of now:
I, Frankenstein LEGO Movie The Son of God 300: Rise of an Empire Mr. Peabody and Sherman Divergent Noah Captain America: Winter Soldier The Amazing Spider-man 2 Godzilla Million Dollar Arm X-Men: Days of Future Past How to Train Your Dragon 2 Dawn of the Planet of the Apes The Expendables 3 Dracula Untold The Hunger Games Mockingjay The Hobbit 3
Looks like a pretty big year for me. Possible adds include Guardians of the Galaxy, and possible cuts include Frankenstein and Dracula (if the reviews are a joke), and X-Men if I just can't get away. Possible cut is Expendables.

I'm not the planning type usually when It comes to movies. There are only a few I actuallyknow I'm seeing well in advance so I'll just find out how it goes as usual.

I'm not really making plans or planning. I'll end up not going to a bunch I'll bet. But those are the movies I want to see, some with family and some not.
Like, Godzilla. Whether it's "planning" or not, I will see it even if the price of admission is to strangle a puppy in front of the window and slide it under the little cutout in the glass.

So do any movies count or do they have to be 2014 vintage from here on out?
I think it was supposed to be theater, but then some people started putting everything, and then others said that's not best, and everybody ended up doing what he/she felt like. I think the majority of us are limiting it to theater for this thread (I am).

There are no hard & fast rules here. I include any movie I see during the calendar year that I've never seen before, regardless of what year it came out. Others include everything they see, no matter how many times they've seen it before. Some folks post a list, some just a number, some folks include reviews, some don't. It's all good.
