Here's one that's out of left field. I happen to enjoy jams. I know that many people don't, but if this box turns out to be more than a rumor, I'll be happy with it.
From Muscitap.com
The other completely unexpected news is of an Eric Clapton box set that hadn’t been discussed, as least as far as I know, at any music forums or Clapton discussion sites. There’s going to be a 6-CD set called Give Me Strength ’74. The sleuths over at the Hoffman Forum have only been able to piece together some small fragments of what this thing is really all about. At some non-U.S. website, somebody posted that the writer, Marc Roberty, has confirmed that this box set is a legitimate release. So, I’m only assuming that this is going to be a UMe/Polydor release since it’s supposed to be legitimate. From what has been bandied about at the early stages, this box set is going to be from 1974 and 1975 and will likely consist of mostly jam sessions. It is going to be available on November 25 in the U.S. And November 22 in the EU. This one is a real head-scratcher, as it is going to be coming hot on the heels of the expanded Deluxe Edition of Unplugged. We’ll have to see how this plays out. The pre-order is already up over at Amazon. (Hoffman Forum)

We got a sneak preview of this because Bill L. is putting it together. Massive amount of music, including a full concert recording, IIRC. Should be out before Christmas, from Universal.

On November 26, Universal Music Group will unveil the 5-CD/1-Blu-ray box Eric Clapton – Give Me Strength: The ’74/’75 Recordings, featuring remastered and expanded versions of 461 Ocean Boulevard, There’s One in Every Crowd and E.C. Was Here, plus additional material and a Blu-ray of surround mixes.
Housed in a hardbound 60-page book, the box set is an exhaustive compendium of Clapton’s seminal “comeback” recordings between April 1974 and June 1975. Give Me Strength follows Universal’s past boxes dedicated to Derek and the Dominos’ Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs and Clapton’s 1977 Slowhand, and includes:
•88 remastered, remixed, rare unreleased and live recordings, including session outtakes, from studio albums 461 Ocean Boulevard and There’s One in Every Crowd, and live album E.C. Was Here on 5 CDs; •A new, never-before-released 5.1 surround sound mix of 461 Ocean Boulevard by Elliot Scheiner, and original quadraphonic mixes of 461 Ocean Boulevard and There’s One in Every Crowd.

It's been a long time since I was even semi-excited by a Clapton release (or re-release), but this one looks really nice. I may be greedy, but if this drops into the $50 range I will definitely hit the Order button.

I've already ordered the 5 CD set but I'm curious- does anyone know what's on the 2 CD version? Is it all unreleased material or a mix of that and songs that have already been out?

This should be good. I was fortunate enough to see Clapton several times during this period, and this was a great live outfit. "...Every Crowd" was not as strong an album as 461, but there are several good songs there.

If I recall correctly from our sneak preview, the deluxe set includes the 2 studio albums and one live album in their entirety, plus tons of bonus material/

Who, me?
I'm not a big Clapton fan, but 461 Ocean Blvd and There's One In Every Crowd are two of my favorites of his -- Crowd seems to be considered a much lesser album than 461, but I actually think it's just as good. Great looking package. I'll be watching reviews and comments. May need to at least spring for the 2 cd set if there are some nice extras. Never heard E.C. Was Here. Any opinions on that one?

E.C. Was Here is one of my favourite Clapton concert cd. Great work between Clapton and George Terry.
