Here it comes folks!DVD + CD release planned for a November 2013.
This will be a real treat as the footage has never been seen before (not even as a bootleg videocassette or DVD)! The band performed an afternoon and evening show on the same day at the festival. It remains to be seen just how much of each show made it on to film.

Janie Hendrix had mentioned in an interview that footage from Newport 69 might also be included as a bonus. We presume that this will feature the much circulated June 22 footage where Jimi appeared as part of an "all star band" (including Eric Burdon and Buddy Miles). We can also speculate that some neat footage of the The Experience at the festival two days earlier has surfaced, but this seems doubtful (some fuzzy 8 mm footage can be een on YouTube). The release might get the same treatment as Monterey and Woodstock, with a new documentary included for good measure.
This is the best news for decades.

This is from the Hendrix Guide website

Assuming that the cd is soundboard & not audie I am SO on this one! While I hope there's a USA release, $25 for the cd only edition is a stunning price for a Japan import new release.

I'm at least going to wait To see if there's a cheaper USA release. The Hi-res thing & the recent tendency towards brick walled mastering in Japan has cooled me way off on SHM's (though I love the ones I got from Jim M a few years ago).

The Japanese issues are there just as an indication that this is going to happen.

I am assuming there will be an announcement shortly regarding the USA/UK etc releases.

Geff, I can assure you these will be high quality audio and the DVD will be in 5.1 audio.

I have a bootleg of some of this show from SBD reels, they sound amazing already.

Bump: The CD and vinyl editions are now up at Amazon, and I've replaced the Japanese links in the first post with these American ones. (There's no DVD listed yet.)

The so called Miami DVD seems to be just this, but I am excited all the same......

This special Blu-Ray presentation of Jimi Hendrix: Hear My Train A Comin' presents the definitive documentary about the extraordinary life of the greatest guitarist of all time, now in high definition video.

As seen on American Masters (PBS), this critically acclaimed film, directed by Bob Smeaton (The Beatles Anthology; Festival Express), unveils previously unseen performance footage and home movies while sourcing an extensive archive of photographs, drawings, family letters and more to provide new insight into the musician's personality and genius with interviews with Hendrix himself, commentary from well-known friends and musicians including Paul McCartney, Noel Redding, Mitch Mitchell, Billy Cox, Eddie Kramer, Steve Winwood, as well as revealing glimpses into Jimi from those closest to him. The film details the meteoric rise of the Experience, the creation of his groundbreaking music, the building of Electric Lady Studios, his state of the art recording facility in Greenwich Village and concludes with poignant footage from his final performance in Germany in September 1970, just 12 days before his death at age 27.

A pioneering electric guitarist, Hendrix had only four years of mainstream exposure and recognition, but his influential music and riveting stage presence left an enduring legacy.

BONUS FEATURES INCLUDE 13 PREVIOUSLY UNSEEN PERFORMANCES ONLY AVAILABLE ON THIS DVD :

MIAMI POP FESTIVAL: 5.1 Stereo

Never before released color film footage of the group's legendary May 18, 1968 festival performance, including "Foxey Lady," "Tax Free," and "Fire" together with interviews with festival promoter Michael Lang and engineer Eddie Kramer.

NEW YORK POP FESTIVAL: 5.1 Stereo

Never before released color film footage of the group's July 17, 1970 festival performance, including "Message To Love," "Lover Man," "All Along The Watchtower," "Purple Haze," and "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)."

LOVE & PEACE FESTIVAL: Official 'Bootleg'

Newly discovered archival film footage of the final performance by the Jimi Hendrix Experience on September 6, 1970 at the Isle Of Fehmarn, Germany. Includes "Killing Floor," "Spanish Castle Magic," "All Along The Watchtower" and "Foxey Lady" and an amateur soundtrack recording recorded by the festival promoters using stage microphones.

We'll know soon............... I'd only consider video if it includes hi res audio. I just don't have time to watch concert video unless it's omg special.

That's a good price on the DVD. I may have misunderstood; I thought it was the old "Experience" doc that I've bought several times + some new material.

One bit of good news: Amazon streams don't freeze for me like You Tube does (I've even been having trouble loading gmail as of late; I'm starting to guess there may be a backbone issue between my isp & Google). I'm also starting to suspect that something in the java that Google uses isn't getting along real well with Firefox.

BBC is streaming the entire doc, it's probably the best JH doc ever (though I'm not certain we really needed another JH documentary...... but it's quite well done).
