Not if Gene Simmons has anything to say about it. Lucrative? Absolutely! Interesting? We'll see. I've been very underwhelmed by most previous Kiss reissues.

This would suddenly become more interesting if they include the demo of Christine Sixteen with Eddie & Alex Van Halen.

Gene has said in the past that they can't use that demo until Eddie and Alex sign off on it, but as was pointed out on the PodKISSt episode where they discussed Love Gun, this demo was recorded prior to VH being signed to Warners, so it's Gene's property and he should be able to use it how he pleases.

Gene may own the recording, and it may not be illegal for Gene to release the recording without their consent, but Gene's pretty savvy as far as music contracts go--there have been plenty of musicians who have played and/or recorded with KISS on a strict work-for-hire basis. (Including both Ace Frehley and Peter Criss.). I don't know the exact circumstances under which the Van Halen brothers played on this demo, but if they only played on that recording as part of a tryout/audition without signing any type of waiver or agreement or employment contract at the time, then Gene probably would still need to get their signatures.

If nothing else, one can count on Gene to play all of the money angles.

Maybe the unreleased live album "Rock and Roll Party in Tokyo" will be included on this.

In addition to Christine Sixteen, the Van Halen brothers also played on demos for Have Love Will Travel (became Got Love For Sale) and Tunnel of Love. I guess I wouldn't be all that shocked to see these finally get released, with the way physical media sales are drying up there really isn't any reason to sit on this stuff anymore. But like Walter said earlier, most of these Kiss reissues have been under-whelming (which I agree with, although I really liked the box set), so I definitely will not get my hopes up.

Wasn't Destroyer originally announced as a two-disc set with a fair amount of unreleased stuff?

That was recorded in April, 1977 on the Rock And Roll Over tour, so I doubt it. It was also issued as the bootleg The Lost Alive II. Great disc.

Essential disc!

It is very good. Picked that one up at a KISS convention back in the late '90s. It would be great if that were properly mastered and officially released.

Destroyer merits a super deluxe box with all the trimmings.

I'm surprised, honestly, that they're not doing all of the early albums in a series of monster-sized editions like Pink Floyd did.

I don't think the potential sales would warrant something like that, quite honestly.

I think two disc deluxes with live tracks, demos, outtakes & possibly video would be a more realistic way to go and would be more likely to sell.

A Destroyer Super Deluxe mega-priced box set would be like a cross between Destroyer and Gene Simmons' ideal threesome - himself, his ego, and your money.

And yet, KISS will just sign another contract and make some easy money...
