Christ ! There really is a god !

I'd like to see these on DVD High Res as well. A 5.1 Mix of Aoxomoxoa or Anthem Of The Sun would have to be amazing !

I definately want the original mixes, but disappointed this is the only format. As if they would not sell on cd. Have to see if I still have a turntable...maybe change my mind :)

I've heard a needle-drop of the original Aoxomoxoa, and I prefer it to the much simpler remix. I'v never heard the original Anthem, though—can anyone tell me what I'm missing?

The issues with Anthem Of The Sun were that it was always considered poorly mixed resulting in a muddy sound.
They tried to attempt to remedy this but failed.

The original mix contains a lot more subtle sounds that Jerry Garcia proudly discussed on the 'Anthem to Beauty DVD'. "It was mixed for the hallucinations".

The original mix for Aoxomoxoa is a revelation and is far superior than what was re-done in 1971-1972.

I also would like to see these on CD but an audiophile can now transfer these LPs to 96/24 kHz DVD if you have a decent turntable and the right software.

On the nose right there, and it is the crux of the issue...with a price tag of over $20 per album, with the majority of folks really interested in the just the original mixes of the titles discussed, seems a bit of an elitist angle (for a band who always was above (below) all that that) for the product. So to get it the way the majority of consumers would want it, one has to spend additional money for equipment / software if they do not have it, and - which is even more precious to me - the time to gigure it out.

If I'm not mistaken, Rhino is the one making all of the business decisions now. The Dead have handed over the vault for a certain amount of time, 10 years I think.

No doubt...and I'm not against anyone making a buck, I just find it somewhat limiting (which I know I am not alone). In the end I'll probably get it anyway, just not my media of choice.

All the GD studio albums are on HD Tracks in 96/24 kHz from original masters. I took the plunge and got them.
All I can say is they sound bloody amazing. The first song I played was St.Stephen and the difference I heard compared to my CD version was astounding.
This is one set of albums that 'has' been improved on greatly in 96/24 kHz

Geff will love this

There is a 2.0 96/24 & 192/24 download version of this same box at HD tracks:
https://www.hdtracks.com/index.php?file ... l&id=10279

I know AB & WD feature the original mixes. Not as sure on the others, but I suspect they are the originals.

Freaky!

I also noticed my old post asking for high res and my prayers were answered.

As I posted in another thread, now we just need the official original live albums in high res!
