This would be a good time to finally release the 1965 album "Boz" on CD. As far as I know, it is only available on very pricey vinyl, and was only a Dutch(?) release when it came out. Hey, we got Nilsson's Flash Harry and the promise of the first 2 Steve Miller Band albums on CD, so one can dream, no?

This has a similar track listing to his earlier 2-CD anthology, My Time, although this one seems to follow stricter chronology. The earlier set was mostly chronological but curiously put 1969's "Loan Me A Dime" at the end of the first CD, after tracks from his 1975 Silk Degrees album.

Are these before 'Children of the Future' when they were known as the Steve Miller Blues Band?

Very interesting - any more information on those?

john,

try to get his whole catalog, you will not regret it.

you can more than likely get them cheap in the used bins.

P.S. Another timely plug for Greatest Hits Live, a superb concert recording issued in 2004. Available as a 2-CD set and a DVD.

I think My Time is the better choice for an anthology, as I'm not big into his more recent work and prefer more from "Down Two Then Left", which is a killer, under appreciated album IMO.

I also really like "Down Two...". It wasn't as immediate as "Silk Degrees", but it grew on me.

The great Down Two Then Left single "Hollywood" always gets overlooked.

I think, on the whole, it's better.

Loved that album! A highlight for me is "Get on the Natch", because it sounds unlike any other song by Boz. It sounds more like something Don Henley would do.

I agree! This is a superb concert. The performance and sound is fantastic. It's about the best sounding concert DVD I own. When I watch the performance in such a formal setting, I always laugh because the people seem so stiff, considering some of the funkier songs.

Still waiting for a legitimate release of the classic Radio City Music Hall gig in 1980. What a killer band and set of tunes.
This was originally a King Biscuit Flower Hour (I believe) and should have been released years ago. I recorded the original
broadcast off FM to cassette but my tape player was experiencing some weird drop-outs intermittently. Some of it sounds great,
some doesn't. I've heard a Japanese boot that didn't sound as good as the best parts of my copy. The KBFH people have to have the original source material. It must be another case of the artist not releasing the rights. What else could be holding it up?

These Essential sets usually don't have rarities that I can think of, but most are decent collections for those interested in those artists.
