This is now available to watch online (for a limited time). It's also running on various PBS cable channels throughout the week.

I ended up watching all three hours in one sitting. It's a well done program.

Some things that stood out:

The time spent on Steranko (Which I can understand, since he was available for interviews. It was a nice change, since most of these docs focus on the same old stories.)

A nice sized chunk of Ron Mann's Comic Confidential segment featuring Bill Gaines was lifted and inserted into the start of the doc, complete with music and B-roll.

They did a good job of tiptoeing around the creators who had shared credit for their big creatings. (Finger and Robinson are mentioned in the same breath with Kane, Stan still gets the lion's share of credit for Marvel though Kirby and Ditko are present in everything. Still not enough Kirby and Ditko though... there never will be unless the focus is on the artist instead of the "writer".)

Hearing Adam West read the Batman dialogue from Miller's The Dark Knight Returns is a thousand times scarier and more disturbing than the comic itself.

Neal Adams never comes across very well in interviews. Just awkward.

And weird to see colorist Christina Strain interviewed. She used to come into my shop when she was living here.

This is really good material to play while just puttering around and reading.

Somebody let me know if there's a specific PBS airing. I'd like to record it so I can watch it anytime if they take it down from the website.

I enjoyed the first episode. Hopefully the other two will stay online long enough for me to watch them.

Did anyone count the number of times that Stan Lee said "I"?

I caught the last 20 minutes on cable after the football game yesterday and wished I'd watched the whole thing. I think I'm going to order the blu-ray.

If you don't mind not having a physical disc, you can get all three episodes in HD from Either Amazon Video or iTunes for $2.99 each episode or $7.99 for all three parts. That's not a rental price either. That's to own.

Thanks Chris. I don't use either of those services, but you mentioning that led me to check the Google Play Store, which I do use, and it's there for $1.99/episode. I'll probably go that route instead of buying a disc for much more.

You did catch the fact that they are streaming free on PBS website right now? Just checking.

Just for the record, Ronald Reagan named Spider-Man as his favorite comic long before Barack Obama.

That was a million times better than Peter Weller's sleepwalker performance.

I finished watching it.

There was nothing new for me, but every once in a while I like to be reminded why I love superheroes.

Well… yeah, I wasn't expecting anything new, but the wonderment of comics is there,
and it's nice to see the creators talk. Still hoping I can squeeze in episodes 2 and 3
tomorrow before PBS pulls them.

I did, but I won't have time to watch them in the next week, and they'll probably be down by the time I do.

Bought the digital copies of this on Amazwan.

I didn't want to take the chance of losing access to that great profile shot of Steranko's toupée.
