1. Behind The Scenes

2013 five disc (three CDs + two DVDs) box set. It takes a legend to bring a myth back to life. A unique treat for music fans worldwide, Steve Hackett's critically acclaimed live production 'Genesis Revisited' has so far triumphed in Europe, Japan and North America alike and is still going strong; on May 10th it celebrated its success at a sold out London's Hammersmith Apollo with an ecstatic audience. Genesis Revisited - Live at Hammersmith - a unique performance with guests including Nik Kershaw, John Wetton, Jakko Jakszyk, Steve Rothery and Amanda Lehmann. The pioneering guitarist comments: "The 5.1 DVD with stereo CD is a feast for all the senses. I was blown away by the fantastic response to those May UK gigs!"

Looking forward to this one. I have it on order from Steve's website because it comes signed by him.

I recently heard Volume 2 & enjoyed it, but.................why? We have the superior originals with Hackett on them, many in quality live versions.

My answer is, why not? With so many artists re-recording their original hits in inferior versions (for the reasonable goal of taking control away from their original record labels), and others recording tedious versions of the "Great American Songbook," I see nothing wrong with a guitarist of Hackett's caliber, still at the peak of his powers, revisiting these timeless songs and finding new places to take them with various musicians & singers. A lot of the performances on both volumes of Genesis Revisited are re-worked arrangements, and I enjoy some of them nearly as much as the originals. Very much looking forward to this live package. But I also understand why some people would see this as unnecessary.

Why?

The show I saw the other night was fantastic-that's why.

Was it the same as Genesis? Not even close-but this was the man that did all that brilliant guitar work on those songs playing them for a sold-out crowd who was eager to hear them.

I totally agree with Rich-he has every right to do it, and he has done it in his way with songs he is a part of.

I usually get his CD's from his website so I can get a signed copy...I thought of getting this one from his website as well, but if you live in the states like me, that's about 50 bucks. Plus, since it's coming from the UK, the DVD's are probably region 2 and in PAL so they probably won't work here. So, I'll just get mine from Amazon.

I try to buy directly from artists whenever it's financially feasible, regardless of autographs or other bonuses, but I agree that a package like this (with the higher price tag) is better off being purchased through normal retail channels.

Most of the music DVDs I've gotten in the last few years have been NTSC Region 0, even the ones from overseas. I think the region & format thing is being used almost exclusively for movies now.

The format (PAL vs NTSC) is country dependent, though it mostly impacts old style CRT's, NOT Hi-DEF monitors. Even if you have a CRT TV (like me) & if you don't have a DVD player with a convertor, your PC should natively play region free PAL. As far as NTSC being manufactured in Europe, they are specifically being manufactured for export to North America & Japan.
