I made myself the guinea pig for this release before posting about it. The audio is better than all of the live recordings of the original Renaissance line-up which have circulated for years, but it still varies in quality, and none of it could be described as "great" sound. The performances themselves are mostly excellent, however, and for the historical value -- to add to either a Yardbirds or Renaissance collection -- I'd recommend this CD without hesitation.

Thank you, Linda. I would have bought it anyway, but it's nice to know it sounds at least better than the previously released stuff.

I love Jane Relf.
I wish she would have done more. The Illusion albums were wonderful.
I love Jane Relf.

I've got:

Renaissance:
1969 Renaissance
1970 Illusion

Illusion:
1976 Out of the Mist
1978 Illusion
1990 Enchanted Caress

Jane Relf:
2008 Complete Collection 69-95

had been holding back on getting:
2001 Renaissance Illusion / Jim McCarty - Through The Fire
2002 Renaissance - Live + Direct (1970 live, 1970-76 demos)
2012 Renaissance - Post Orbit of Dust ( 1969-70 live)

Am I missing anything else of major significance?

I believe you're covered for Jane Relf. For Keith Relf you'd still need the Armageddon album, which Esoteric did a perfect remaster of in 2009:

I'm unfamiliar with this one: 1990 Enchanted Caress
The reviews on Amazon seem to be mixed. Could you fill me in? I like & own all 4 of the studio Illusion / pre-Haslam Renaissance cd's. Do I need/want this one?

Thanks Linda, I do have Armageddon on Esoteric, the first 2 Renaissance and first 2 Illusion as well. It'd be nice if Esoteric would reissue Through The Fire, and Live + Direct, the out-of-print prices are crazy on those.

Geff, although Enchanted Caress may not be up to the higher standards of the earlier albums, I think it's a most worthy purchase. You can listen to the 30 sec audio clips on Amazon under the MP3 version. My opinion is closer to the 4 and 5 star Amazon reviews than the 2 star review. Jane's songs here are also on her 2 CD comp Complete Collection 69-95...

Bump: Added full product image to the first post. It's a nice, old school CD package done with care (albeit in a super jewel case rather than a standard one). Troubadour is a subsidiary of the Easy Action label, BTW. They're the ones who did The Yardbirds' Glimpses box last year.
