http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CUDD0VQ/?tag=imwan-20I was happy to read that the Shout! label has released "The Idol Maker" from 1980. Ordered from Amazon and watched it last night. So great to see this again.
The Idolmaker marked the feature film debut for Peter Gallagher (American Beauty, The O.C. ) and Joe Pantoliano (The Sopranos, The Matrix) and starred Ray Sharkey (Wiseguy) as rock promoter Vincent Vaccari, a character based on the real life of manager Bob Marcucci, who discovered and promoted several rock ānā roll stars including Frankie Avalon and Fabian. Sharkey would go on to win the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Musical/Comedy for his performance.
Love these somewhat "cheesey"(if that's the right description) of films like "Stardust", "The Fabulous Stains", "Eddie and the Cruisers" and The Buddy Holly Story" and many others. Just lots of fun. Check it out of you get a chance.
