Former Marillion frontman Fish has released a teaser video containing clips from his upcoming album A Feast Of Consequences. His first record in five years will be available only via his website, and the deluxe edition comes with a bonus DVD, hardback book and download token. Pre-orders placed before August 31 will come with a limited-edition print signed by Fish and artist Mark Wilkinson.
Fish reports: "The units will be here in the studio 'on or as close to 2 September.' My friend's son and two of his friends have been sticking address labels, customs labels and airfreight labels in preparation for filling with deluxe editions.
"They haven't complained once – apart from asking for biscuits and I have been entertained by their jukebox selection, which has taken in early Genesis, Springsteen, Yes, Floyd, Billy Joel, the Beatles, Jethro Tull, Tenacious D and the Police, to name a few.

A couple of us made comments regarding this in another thread recently. It may have been the "What Are You Listening too thread", but I'm uncertain. I have not heard this album. The gist of my comments were that Fish has been releasing too much "product" the last few years (especially live); & the quality isn't as high for me as his early solo work & Marillion albums.
I'll still want to hear this when it comes out.

To be fair, it's actually his first studio album in five years. But like many former-big-label-turned-independent artists, there's been a lot of live material to fill the commercial gaps.
For better or worse, what I've heard so far sounds fairly consistent with his other latter-day solo work... he's got more control over his voice in a studio environment, and he's working with Robin Boult again. The limited edition looks amazing, too, with tons of Mark Wilkinson artwork. The bonus DVD features a mix of interviews, behind-the-scenes footage, and live performances of Feast material from previous touring.

Even with the VAT discount, it's over $50 shipped to the US -- that's no small consideration. Marillion adopted a very similar pricing strategy with their last studio album, and I haven't gotten around to purchasing that either.

I love the packaging and extras, plus you can pre-order and get a signed copy...but, this thing has one hefty price tag. Plus, if I bought this, it might sit on the shelf and not get as played as much as it should, only because it's not a standard CD-sized thing.
I seem to remember in one of Fish's video blogs he mentioned that this big deluxe version comes first, and then the standard CD (with the DVD maybe?) will come a bit later (like November-ish as I recall). So, I might hold out for that.

Yeah, there will be a standard version with a scaled-down booklet (no DVD, though) available sometime later in September, but as of now it looks like this will remain a private release with no US domestic version planned.

This will be receiving a vinyl release later in the spring with three bonus tracks not found on the initial CD/digital version: live versions of "Perfume River", "A Feast of Consequences", and "Blind to the Beautiful", all from an October 2013 show in Karlsruhe, Germany.

I have been told it's a 5 week turnaround so I expect to have the album with us here at the studio week beginning 14th April.
Once I have definitive dates I will have this up in the shop at fishheadsclub.com for pre order.

Just got the Special Edition box set today after reading about his aborted Europe tour and more snafu's with the box sets (mislabeled CDs). Figured I'd help him out and buy a box but I do love his voice so I'm looking forward to having time to listen.
