Description
Digitally remastered and expanded edition of this extremely rare 1980 album from the singer/songwriter. Flash Harry was the 16th and final album released by Harry Nilsson. Originally issued only on vinyl in the U.K. and Japan. This legendary album has never been released in the U.S., and has not been available on CD. The album features Nilsson's own recording of "Old Dirt Road", co-written and performed with John Lennon on Lennon's album Walls and Bridges (1974). Other song collaborators include Lowell George, Van Dyke Parks and Ringo Starr. The opening track "Harry" is performed by Eric Idle and Charlie Dore. The CD also includes three previously unreleased songs and an alternate version of "Old Dirt Road." The album was produced by famed guitarist Steve Cropper (best known as the guitarist of the Stax Records house band, Booker T. & the M.G.'s).

Same here (not at J&R, though). Also grabbed Hollywood Dreamer and Spotlight on Nilsson to complete the catalogue. I may have a problem!

I've read complaints that this CD has tracks with abrupt endings and early fades, and the Eric Idle song "Harry" is sourced from vinyl. What say you guys?

Haven't listened to it yet as I am catching up - I did read the liner notes...seems Harry and Eric had a falling out - Eric came up with the tune - recorded it and sent it to Harry to patch things up. Harry loved it and asked if he could include it on Flash Harry - it originally was never meant to be released to the masses - Harry added the demo disc onto the album - that is why it came from vinyl - even on the original release.

Interesting explanation for why some have said this track sounds like a needledrop. It never existed otherwise, eh?
